Center City Public Charter Schools (Center City PCS) empower our students for lifelong success by building strong character, promoting academic excellence, and generating public service throughout Washington, D.C. Our network serves over 1,400 students annually at our six campuses across the District, with a staff of over 250 dedicated individuals.

Center City Public Charter Schools (Center City PCS) seeks a passionate and dedicated Middle School Math Teacher for the 2023-2024 school year. This role offers an incredible opportunity to guide students in grades 5-8 toward a deep understanding and appreciation of mathematics. As a math teacher, you will build studentsโ€™ problem-solving abilities, critical thinking, and confidence in subjects essential to their future academic and professional success.

Responsibilities

Instructional Excellence:

  • Planned and delivered engaging, practical daily math lessons aligned with the Eureka Math curriculum and Common Core Mathematics standards.

  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners and maximize student achievement.

  • Develop clear instructional outcomes and design assessments that measure student understanding and growth.

  • Use questioning strategies and discussion techniques to deepen student understanding and engagement.

Classroom and Student Management:

  • Establish a culture of respect, learning, and academic rigor.

  • Manage classroom procedures and student behavior to create an environment conducive to learning.

  • Maintain a supportive and well-organized learning environment that promotes academic success.

Data-Driven Instruction:

  • Analyze student performance data to inform and adapt instruction.

  • Provide differentiated support based on individual student needs to ensure measurable academic growth.

  • Design student assessments

Collaboration and Professional Development:

  • Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and campus-based professional development sessions.

  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices and develop interdisciplinary approaches.

  • Reflect on teaching practices and incorporate ongoing informal feedback to improve instruction.

Family and Community Engagement:

  • Build positive relationships with parents and families by fostering regular communication and collaboration.

  • Partner with families to support students' academic progress and personal growth.

Operational Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, assessments, and academic progress.

  • Adhere to school-wide policies regarding attire, behavior, and punctuality.

  • Attend and participate in school events outside of regular hours as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelorโ€™s degree in an applicable subject area, as appropriate

  • Passing Praxis scores

  • Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience (preferred)

  • Familiarity with Common Core Shifts in Mathematics and Eureka Math Curriculum (preferred)

  • Demonstrates ability to use data to assess student learning, with evidence of growth

  • References that reflect high standing with a past employer

  • Able to lift up to 10 pounds and able to stand for long hours

  • Must be able to show proof of complete vaccination against COVID-19
