Job Summary
•Design, develop, refactor, and optimize Perl modules and legacy CGI applications for high-performance, secure production operations.
•Troubleshoot and resolve production issues end-to-end across system, application, and deployment layers, including memory leaks and performance bottlenecks.
•Own and improve Jenkins CI/CD pipelines, including build, release, versioning, and integration of static analysis tooling.
•Manage Linux server environments, covering processes, permissions, user/group management, cron, and performance monitoring.
•Write and maintain unit tests and runbooks to support reliability and knowledge continuity.
•Apply observability practices including structured logging, log rotation, telemetry, and actionable monitoring across Apache and application layers.
•Contribute to incremental modernization efforts, including migration from VM-based infrastructure toward containerized deployments.
Minimum Requirements:
•8-10 years of professional software development experience with strong, real-world Perl expertise including legacy Perl/CGI systems.
•Proficiency in Linux server operations (RHEL, CentOS, Debian, or Ubuntu) using CLI tools such as grep, awk, sed, jq, and diff.
•Hands-on experience with module management (CPAN, Makefile.PL, Build.PL), secure input handling, and performance tuning.
•Solid front-end proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
•Experience owning Jenkins pipelines (multibranch, Jenkinsfile), artifacts, credentials, and release cadence.
•Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis mindset with the ability to work independently in legacy and ambiguous environments.
•Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across distributed, cross-timezone teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
•Experience with Angular or React in an enterprise development context.
•Containerization experience, including Docker and container-based deployments.
•AWS or cloud platform exposure.
•Familiarity with observability tooling such as OpenTelemetry or structured logging frameworks.
•Experience modernizing legacy systems incrementally, including VM-to-container migrations.
•Background with Node.js-based build tooling for static assets, including bundling, minification, and cache busting.
•Familiarity with enterprise tooling such as Jira, Bitbucket, GitHub Enterprise, Azure DevOps, or Octopus Deploy.
