Job description

Position Overview
Join Ad Astra Behavior Analytic Services as a Behavior Technician and gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA). This position offers an opportunity to begin or further develop your career while making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and their families.
In this role, you will provide direct, individualized support by implementing ABA treatment programs designed to build new skills and promote positive behavioral outcomes. Services are provided in clients' homes and community-based settings based on their individualized treatment needs.
Most sessions are scheduled Monday through Friday between 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM, with scheduling flexibility based on client needs and your availability.
Compensation ranges from $20-$27 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications. Additional compensation may be available for bilingual Spanish-speaking applicants.
Key Responsibilities
As a Behavior Technician, you will directly support children as they develop essential communication, social, adaptive, and everyday living skills. You will implement evidence-based ABA strategies to promote skill development, encourage greater independence, and address behaviors that may interfere with learning, safety, or daily functioning.
Individuals with coursework, degrees, or experience in psychology, education, human services, child development, or related fields are encouraged to apply.
Success in this position requires a dependable and professional approach, strong interpersonal skills, patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to helping children achieve meaningful progress.
Qualifications
To be considered for the Behavior Technician position, applicants must meet the following requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Reliable transportation
  • Active auto insurance with the applicant listed as a covered driver
  • Current negative TB test

The ability to work collaboratively with BCBAs and other members of the clinical team is essential. Physical and Cognitive Requirements:
  • Frequently sit, stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and transition between floor-level and standing positions throughout the workday.
  • Actively participate in developmentally appropriate client activities, including floor-based activities, movement-based activities, transitions, and safety monitoring.
  • Safely navigate assigned work environments, including homes, clinics, schools, community settings, and remote/telehealth settings, as applicable.
  • Occasionally, lift, carry, push, pull, or move therapy materials and equipment, typically up to 50 pounds.
  • Sit for extended periods while providing telehealth services or completing computer-based work as needed.
  • Use hands and fingers to operate computers, keyboards, mobile devices, and other equipment requiring fine motor coordination.
  • Maintain visual and auditory awareness to observe client behavior, monitor safety, and communicate effectively in both in-person and virtual settings.
  • Read, understand, retain, and apply written and verbal information.
  • Maintain attention, concentration, situational awareness, and sound judgment in dynamic environments.
  • Collect, record, and submit accurate client data and session documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Maintain professionalism and emotional resilience when addressing sensitive client or employee matters, complaints, and workplace concerns.

Incentive Pay Structure
  • $1/hour raise after maintaining consistent availability for 90 consecutive days

Cancellation Policy
To protect staff time and earnings, we maintain a clear cancellation policy. Paid cancellations are provided for up to 2 hours of pay if a client cancels within 30 minutes or less of the scheduled start time and/or technician has already departed for the session. We also actively monitor and address excessive client cancellations to protect technician schedules and maintain consistent hours.
