Job description

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for controlling and maintaining auxiliary equipment that supports the main power generation processes during start up, operation and shutdown. Tasks include monitoring system parameters, performing routine tests and making adjustments and/or preventive maintenance to auxiliary equipment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Operate and monitor auxiliary equipment, such as pumps, fans, heat exchangers, filters, and water distribution systems.
  • Ensure the supply of water, lubricants, and compressed air to auxiliary equipment of power plant.
  • Regularly monitor and control power plant auxiliary equipment from the field inspection routines and report to control room for take actions according to operating procedures.
  • Eventually receive guided training for power plant operation from the control room.
  • Collect technical information of condition from power plant auxiliary equipment for WO generation for maintenance planning and execution.
  • Ensures all company and OSHA safety standards, policies, and procedures are followed.
  • Performs other related projects and assignments as business dictates.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to read, write and speak the English language to understand directions on the job, over the radio, and to ensure safety for all on the work site.
  • Must have mechanical aptitude and the ability to read and understand wiring blueprints, schematics, and manuals.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to operate yard truck forklift, man lift, overhead crane, hoist, various hand & power tools, computer, drill press, threaders, benders, grinders, micrometer, T-square, level, impact wrenches and measuring tape.
  • Ability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays and eventually on rotating shift.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to a multicultural environment.
  • Bilingual and Biliterate - English and Spanish, preferred.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have four (3) years of experience working in Steam turbine Power Plants environment.
  • Must have prior training, knowledge, and proficiency with the National Electric Code (NEC), NFPA 70E, LOTO, PPE, OSHA workplace practices, etc.
  • Understanding of material handling systems, piping, valves, pressure vessels, pumps, cooling towers, building & grounds, and air compressors beneficial.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Regular attendance is required during your schedule.
  • Must be able to perform all duties within an environment that includes heat, stairs, ramps, uneven walking surfaces, noise, and dust.
  • Must be able to perform all duties within the power plant operations, which includes bending, steps, kneeling, reaching and crawling.
  • Must be able to lift to 50 pounds
