Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for an ENT/Plastic Surgery unit requiring tracheostomy, laryngectomy, and free flap monitoring experience along with telemetry skills.

Details
  • 13-week night shift assignment (4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30) at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma teaching hospital
  • ENT and Plastic Surgery unit caring for patients with cuffed/cuffless tracheostomies, total laryngectomies, carotid blow out precautions, and free flap patients
  • Patient ratio of 1:5
  • Telemetry monitoring required on the unit
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • Floating within service line required to meet facility needs
  • No on-call requirements
  • EPIC charting system used
Requirements
  • Active MO or compact RN license required (compact must match permanent residence)
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required; BSN preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of Med/Surg RN experience required; 1+ year considered with Level I Trauma or teaching facility background
  • EPIC charting experience required
  • Skilled in tracheostomy/total laryngectomy care, surgical drain management, free flap monitoring, tube feeding, and wound care
  • Proficient in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central line management, and blood product administration
  • Experience with oxygen administration, oral suctioning, and non-invasive airway management
  • Teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred
Additional Information
  • Provide direct patient care for complex ENT and plastic surgery cases including drain management, tracheostomy/laryngectomy care, and free flap monitoring
  • Navy blue scrubs required
  • No more than 7 days of RTO permitted per 13-week contract, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
  • Must reside outside a 75-mile radius of the facility; local candidates are not accepted
  • Former permanent employees of the health system must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
  • Travelers may work up to an 18-month period before a required 3-month break in service
  • First-time travelers are welcome to apply
  • Facial hair must accommodate proper respirator fit testing or be shaved
