Work Schedule: 8-hour shifts/Rotating Weekends โ€“ Float position between Preop/PACU and Phase 2 - 30-minute commutable address to facility required for On-Call.

Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Pre-Op Registered Nurse, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care in line with the requirements of the department and the standards of practice for the relevant state and specialty. Collaborating with medical providers and the care team, you will provide personalized, comprehensive, and compassionate care, following established nursing models such as "Assess, Perform, Teach, and Manage." You will also act as an advocate for patients, families, and caregivers, embodying the organization's vision, mission, and values to ensure an outstanding patient experience and positive clinical outcomes.

What you will do in this role:

  • Evaluate the patient's functional, cognitive, physiological, and psychological condition, including family expectations and perceptions, prior to surgery.
  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate general nursing care and discharge plans using an interdisciplinary team approach.
  • Administer medications accurately, carry out physician treatment orders, assist with procedures, and follow controlled substance regulations.
  • Observe patient clinical status, document nursing care accurately, and communicate changes in condition through the established chain of command.
  • Adhere to hospital policies, universal precautions, and infection control techniques while participating in clinical performance improvement activities.
  • Plan patient and family teaching, respect privacy and confidentiality, and honor diverse cultural, psychosocial, and spiritual values.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Graduate of an accredited diploma, associates, or baccalaureate degree registered nursing program.
  • Bachelorโ€™s Degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Texas or Multi-State Compact License (Employees with RN Compact License are required to obtain Texas RN License within 90 days of hire date)
  • Current BLS and ACLS issued from American Heart Association preferred
  • 1 year of clinical Pre-Op experience as a licensed RN required.
