Description

American Traveler is hiring a Med/Surg RN for a 13-week night shift assignment requiring an active IL RN license and telemetry monitoring experience.

Details
  • Acute care setting in a 16-bed Med/Surg unit
  • 1:4 nurse-to-patient ratio
  • Diverse patient population including respiratory issues (COPD, pneumonia), cellulitis, CHF, and surgical cases such as colon resections and orthopedic procedures
  • Uses Nihon Kohden telemetry monitoring with RNs responsible for interpreting their own strips
  • Cerner EMR used for charting
  • 12-hour night shifts from 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM
  • Schedules posted 6 weeks in advance
  • Weekend commitment of every other or every third weekend
  • No mandatory call or holiday requirements, though volunteer opportunities are available
  • Floating opportunities available to assist as a safety sitter or in other supportive roles
  • Access to high-flow oxygen and Vapotherm equipment, with more complex respiratory support transferred to ICU
  • High patient turnover with frequent admissions and discharges throughout the day
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license required
  • 2+ years of nursing experience required, ideally in a rural hospital setting
  • Current certifications: BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA)
  • Strong assessment and critical thinking skills required
  • Telemetry monitoring experience essential
  • BSN not required
