Job description

Provide tutoring and other support services to students primarily in Chemistry.
Major Responsibilities:
• Provides individualized and group tutoring in a manner that empowers students to become independent, successful learners.
• Provides tutoring in Ivy Tech courses with special concentrations in science, technology, and/or math, including remedial mathematics, advanced mathematics, chemistry, biology, anatomy and physiology, accounting, business applications, and other technology fields.
• Teaches and assists students in the use of computer software.
• Guides and instructs students in the use of software programs and/or web-based applications directly related to Ivy Tech coursework.
• Maintains tutoring records for each student.
• Interacts with instructors as to student needs, topics tutored, course changes, and new text book adoptions.
• The above list of duties is not to be construed as an exhaustive list. Other duties logically associated with the position may be assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Baccalaureate degree preferred in mathematics, science or related field.
• Computer literacy and knowledge in word processing programs required.
• Possess a working understanding of college level skills needed by students.
• Ability to exercise important human relations skills in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with college students.
• Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Knows and is able to utilize training provided in tutoring several Ivy Tech Courses.
Preferred Qualifications:
Tutoring or teaching experience at the adult level.
Other Requirements:
• Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.

• Work Hours: Tutoring center hours are set to reflect the needs of the students, which can include days, nights, and virtual availability.
The hourly pay for this position is $17.25.
