Job description

For the past 10 years, TEACH has been supporting students 1-on-1 and in small group settings with exceptional academic, test prep, and enrichment lessons. Our strong connections to local schools and non-profit organizations offer unique opportunities for tutors to be classroom instructors in addition to providing local families with 1-on-1 support. At TEACH we believe tutoring can be a bridge that helps make content more accessible for all students.
We are looking for dedicated and enthusiastic educators who are ready to dismantle educational barriers that students and families face and open up educational opportunities through tutoring.
This is a part-time hourly position, working with an average of 4 students in person during small group pullout instruction or after school instruction working with up to 8 students.
  • Commitment: The commitment is between 6 to 12 hours per week. The instructor would need to be available anytime from 9am-4pm: Monday-Thursday. Exact schedule would be provided in advance.
  • Locations include: South Jersey and thePhiladelphia Metropolitan Area including, but not limited to, West Philadelphia, Olney, Northeast Philly, and Hunting Park. Tutors must be open to traveling on-site to this area.
  • Start date: September or October 2026

Tutor Responsibilities
  • Prepare rigorous and engaging lessons and materials based on student assessment data and other feedback to meet students' needs
  • Grade monthly assessments
  • Use evidence based best practices to support student growth
  • Connect with students from diverse backgrounds and educational experiences to maximize their academic potential and to help them achieve their goals
  • Collaborate with a TEACH Program Manager to grow as an instructor and check in on student progress
  • Attend monthly virtual professional development with TEACH
  • Submit time-sensitive information using our database and other online documentation

Required Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree from an accredited university
  • 2 years of experience teaching relevant grade math in a small group or classroom setting
  • Interest in tutoring with TEACH for 1+ years
  • Available to travel locally in the Greater Philadelphia Area for in-person lessons
  • Ability to complete federal and PA/NJ state background checks and clearances
  • A self starter with a solution-oriented mindset
  • Lives in PA or NJ

Preferred Qualifications
  • A masters in math education and/or teaching certification in math
  • 5+ years of experience teaching math in a small group, or classroom setting
  • Understanding of student-centered learning practices and high impact tutoring
  • Test Prep (SAT and/or ACT) experience

Compensation
$40 per hour plus weekly paid prep
