Job description

Part Time Professor, Accessory Design

As a part-time accessory design professor, covering areas including bags, small leather goods, footwear, sneakers, and eyewear design, you will guide students in exploring SCAD's cutting-edge accessory design program and foster close collaborations with renowned industry partners within a professional, positive, and engaging classroom environment. This will prepare them to take their place at the forefront of a multibillion-dollar industry where luxury meets lifestyle and style meets function. Responsibilities include adherence to all duties and expectations outlined in the SCAD Faculty Handbook, which encompasses coursework preparation, syllabus design and approval, office hours, midterm grade reviews, and more. Among other responsibilities, you will provide students with extra help sessions, extended learning opportunities, and field trips outside of regular class hours.
In this role, you will model professionalism, fulfill all grading and academic documentation requirements, and record attendance. You will assist with all academic assessment and institutional effectiveness efforts. Occasionally, you may support departmental and university-wide initiatives by attending both in-person and virtual events, such as faculty councils, admission activities, accreditation support, curriculum development, exhibitions, and other duties. Professors must fulfill teaching assignments determined by contact hours as specified in the Employment Agreement and follow all academic policies and regulations.

The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in physical prototyping and 3D manufacturing processes. They demonstrate exceptional hand drawing and leadership skills. The candidate is fluent in modern design tools and processes with skills in facilitation, research, interaction design, and visual design. When working with students, they can achieve results through influence and persuasion.
Minimum qualifications:
Terminal degree in accessory design, footwear, and sneaker design or a relevant field
Academic and professional credentials to teach in accessory design, footwear, and sneaker design
Two years of work experience in a related profession or post-secondary teaching experience
Proficient in using various computer software programs for modeling, rendering, and developing virtual models

Preferred qualifications:
Experience in eyewear design
