Job description

We’re looking for a talented, hands-on Studio Photographer & Content Creator to join our production team on a contract basis.

This is first and foremost a studio photography position. The majority of our photography is produced at the Vimax Media studio and kitchen, working alongside our culinary, production, account and creative teams. Some onsite/location photography may also be required from time to time.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced commercial studio environment and has a strong eye for food, product and lifestyle photography. You should be equally comfortable behind the camera, working with professional lighting, shooting tethered and handling post-production through delivery of the final image.

We’re initially looking for approximately 24–30 hours per week, with the opportunity for the position to grow into a full-time role.

What You’ll Do

• Produce high-quality, on-brand professional food, product and lifestyle photography and Stop-Motion for a wide range of client marketing and advertising needs.

• Work primarily from the Vimax Media photography studio and kitchen, collaborating with our culinary, creative, production, account and leadership teams.

• Set up and operate cameras, lighting, modifiers, backgrounds, props and other studio equipment based on shoot requirements and creative direction.

• Work with our studio’s Canon camera systems, Profoto strobes and Aputure continuous lighting solutions.

• Shoot using a professional tethered capture workflow in Adobe Lightroom for live image capture, review, selection and approval.

• Participate in virtual and in-person Live Proof sessions with clients, account managers and members of the production team.

• Process, color-correct, edit and retouch photography using Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop while maintaining client brand standards.

• Capture product and packaging photography and perform clipping, outlining and other image preparation as required.

• Follow established photography style guidelines and creative direction to consistently produce on-brand imagery.

• Maintain organized production workflows, including proper file naming, image storage, asset libraries and delivery of final photography.

• Assist with prop selection, set preparation and other photography production needs.

• Participate in occasional onsite/location photography and content shoots.

• Maintain a professional, organized and collaborative working environment on set.

What We’re Looking For

• Professional commercial photography experience, preferably with a strong portfolio of food, product and/or lifestyle photography.

• Strong understanding of studio photography, lighting and professional production workflows.

• A strong creative eye for composition, lighting, color and detail.

• Ability to interpret creative direction, client brand standards and photography style guidelines and translate them into consistently strong imagery.

• Experience working in a fast-paced commercial studio environment and balancing multiple shoots, projects and deadlines.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented and comfortable managing photography assets from capture through final delivery.

• Self-motivated and dependable, with the ability to work independently while also collaborating closely with culinary, creative, production, account and leadership teams.

• Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with clients during live and virtual proofing sessions.

• Understanding of food styling, culinary production and current food photography trends is a plus.

Video Experience Is a Plus

Experience shooting and/or editing video is a plus, but not required for this position.

Candidates who also have experience with video production, continuous lighting, short-form video, Adobe Premiere Pro or other professional editing workflows are encouraged to highlight those capabilities in their portfolio.
