Maintenance Mechanic

Maintenance Mechanic
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Mechanic to join our team and ensure reliable operation of manufacturing and food-processing equipment. The Maintenance Mechanic will perform preventative and corrective maintenance on mechanical, electrical and electromechanical systems, troubleshoot equipment issues, and support continuous production while maintaining safety and sanitation standards specific to food machinery.
Key Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, routine and emergency maintenance on production machinery including mechanical and electrical systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical faults using appropriate test equipment and schematics
  • Repair or replace bearings, belts, gears, motors, pumps, valves and other mechanical components
  • Disassemble, reassemble and align equipment; perform machining, welding and fabrication tasks as required
  • Install new equipment and modify existing machinery to improve performance or meet changing production needs
  • Work with maintenance schedules and logs; document work performed, parts used and downtime to support continuous improvement
  • Collaborate with production, quality and engineering teams to resolve equipment issues and optimize line performance
  • Maintain compliance with safety, sanitation and regulatory requirements for food manufacturing environments
  • Participate in root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence of equipment failures

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical diploma or certification in industrial maintenance, mechanical or electrical technology preferred
  • 3+ years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; food machinery experience strongly preferred
  • Strong mechanical skills including familiarity with bearings, gearboxes, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics and hydraulics
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, controls, motors and PLCs; ability to read electrical and mechanical schematics
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair electromechanical equipment quickly and safely
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and CMMS preferred
  • Welding, fabrication and basic machining skills a plus
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in variable temperatures and stand for extended periods; flexible to work shift schedule and overtime as needed
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; commitment to safety and food-safety practices (HACCP, GMP)
