As a team member, you help fulfill our mission to make life better here for our community.Patient Care Techs (PCTs) are an integral part of a patient-focused team who use their knowledge, skills, and energy to carry out the sacred task of helping others. They serve as the communication hub for the patient care environment and are responsible for creating and maintaining a care environment conducive to healing.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Six (6) months of nursing assistant experience or certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within two (2) weeks of hire
  • Legible printing
  • Clear speaking voice
  • Typing/computer skills
  • Mature, courteous deportment
  • Driver's license free of violation for SJRIR

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Medical terminology required prior to unit orientation or documentation of formal class within three (3) years
  • Previous experience
  • Multi-language ability


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and development for self and others
  • Collaborates with all team members to provide skillful, supportive care for all patients
  • Communicates pertinent information to members of the patient care team
  • Supports and participates in performance improvement activities
  • Provides quality internal and external customer service
  • Possesses communication skills strong enough to participate with the team, manage conflict, and work successfullywith the public
  • Has ability to perform accurately and quickly in a busy, stressful environment, setting priorities as to duties
  • Deals with the emotional stress of caring for dying and chronically ill patients
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Physical Demands and Environmental Work Conditions:

  • Meets OSHA training requirements
  • Potential exposure to blood and bodily fluids
  • Intermittent or prolonged standing, walking, and sitting
  • Effectively copes and strives for balance when caring for acutely ill patients and families
  • Accepts the risk of job-related illness and injury which may cause long-term health problems
  • Repetitive motions (i.e., wrist/hand movements, grasping, and finger dexterity as in typing, writing, faxing, filingpapers, etc.)
  • Able to lift greater than fifty (50) pounds and push up to three hundred (300) pounds using approved hospitaltransport devices
