Position Overview

Greenville ISD is seeking collaborative, student-focused, and exemplary Math Instructional Coaches for a grant-funded position to support teachers and campus instructional practices. Instructional Coaches will serve as active members of the campus leadership team, modeling a clear alignment between campus instructional practices and district curriculum goals. Impact and effectiveness will be assessed periodically throughout the year through Beginning of Year (BOY), Middle of Year (MOY), and End of Year (EOY) checks.ย 


Primary Purpose

Instructional Coaches work closely with teachers and administration to strengthen instruction, maximize learning time, and improve student achievement. This role focuses on supporting campus instructional goals in alignment with district curriculum and the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).ย 


Qualifications

Education and Certification:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Valid Texas (Math) teaching certificate required
  • Must meet all TEA certification and assignment requirements

Special Knowledge and Skills:

  • Deep knowledge of curriculum, high-impact instructional strategies, and assessment practices (specifically within Math).
  • Ability to analyze student performance data and facilitate data-driven instructional planning.
  • Ability to model effective teaching practices, co-teach, and provide real-time, evidence-based feedback.
  • Strong adult-learning facilitation, communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong classroom management and instructional skills
  • Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to build positive relationships with staff and support professional growth
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism

Experience:

  • Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Experience in instructional leadership, mentoring, or coaching preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties

Leadership & District Alignment

  • Serve as an active member and role model (exemplar for all staff) on the campus leadership team.
  • Support the campus leadership team with strategic planning, maximizing learning time, and monitoring the impact of resources on school, teacher, and student goals.
  • Participate in Summer Professional Development to support the development of school priorities and plans.
  • Actively support district initiatives and events by building productive relationships with staff, attending district meetings, communicating expectations, and monitoring implementation.

Walk-Throughs, Coaching, & Feedback

  • Conduct weekly walk-throughs for all assigned teachers to monitor the delivery of rigorous instruction and student learning.
  • Provide teachers with evidence-based feedback, including actionable steps to strengthen areas of refinement.
  • Focus feedback and support on T-TESS goals based on specific areas of needed growth, monitoring and reviewing goals in collaboration with administration.
  • Assist administrators in the identification, development, and support of Tier 2 and Tier 3 teachers.
  • Facilitate change in teacher practice through demonstration, modeling, and co-teaching lessons that support PLC connections, providing real-time feedback designed for teacher growth.

Data Collection, Analysis, & Communication

  • Create and oversee assessments, quizzes, and exemplars to collect actionable data used to assess the effectiveness and impact of instructional practices, materials, and resource usage (traditional and digital).
  • Lead teachers in data analysis protocols and data tracking to identify teacher, grade-level/department, and school strengths and needs.
  • Formalize discussions and actions for improvement, sharing artifacts with campus leadership and district staff during planning sessions.
  • Lead the implementation of accelerated instruction and enrichment programming.

PLC & Professional Development

  • Design and develop weekly PLCs aligned with teacher/student growth goals, campus/district priorities, current data, and leadership team input.
  • Continuously assess teacher and student performance to ensure PLC effectiveness, recommending adjustments to the campus plan when necessary.
  • Submit and maintain meticulous records of all PLC documents, including agendas, attendance records, and make-up sessions.
  • Develop and expand staff ability to effectively implement high-impact instructional strategies.

Facilitation of Lesson & Internalization Planning

  • Lead lesson planning and content internalization with assigned teams, increasing the quality of plans through oral and written feedback.
  • Ensure planning consistently reflects the district's instructional planning protocol and aligns with district expectations.
  • Procure resources, ensure they are readily available, and confirm instructional plans are archived and accessible.
  • Use formative data (warm-ups, daily student work, exit tickets) and summative data (quizzes, unit assessments, benchmarks) to ground planning in evidence of student learning.
  • Serve as a resource provider, giving teachers access to materials, research-based instructional methods, and technology-based resources/reports.

Direct Teaching & Instructional Responsibilities

  • Serve as a model teacher on campus and meet campus expectations for high-level instruction.
  • Provide direct instructional support to students as assigned (e.g., intervention groups, small-group instruction, or classroom instruction).
  • Ensure students assigned directly to the Instructional Coach demonstrate improved student outcomes.

Professional Growth & Responsibilities

  • Develop an annual professional goal and a student outcome goal based on the school improvement plan, self-assessment results, and feedback from the principal and central office.
  • Identify professional growth areas to enhance the ability to facilitate change with adult learners.
  • Make thoughtful, accurate, and reflective self-assessments regarding effectiveness and the degree of growth achieved by teachers and students over time.
  • Maintain accurate records, follow district safety protocols, and perform other duties as assigned by campus administration.
