Job description
This is a flexible 1099 contractor opportunity. Physicians are required to evaluate all new admissions within 24 hours and provide weekly follow-up visits. Onsite visit times will be coordinated with the Birmingham team based on availability, with virtual visits utilized when clinically appropriate.

What You'll DoAs an Internal Medicine Physician, you'll play a vital role in supporting the medical health of our clients while collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team.
- Complete initial History & Physical examinations for all new admissions within 24 hours.
- Review laboratory results, EKGs, and other medical findings to oversee each client's medical care.
- Manage nonpsychiatric medications and medical conditions, including diabetes.
- Meet with clients weekly for ongoing medical followup.
- Respond to medical concerns and emergencies as needed in collaboration with the nursing team.
- Communicate with the treatment team by phone, email, or secure messaging, and document all medical care in Kipu (EMR).
- Review client charts, labs, and medical documentation as clinically indicated.
- The Internal Medicine Physician is not responsible for participating in treatment team meetings or managing clients' mental health treatment. Qualifications
- MD or DO from an accredited medical school with completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
- Active Alabama medical license and ABMS board certification.
- Experience treating patients in mental health, eating disorders, or a multidisciplinary healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment and the ability to collaborate within an interdisciplinary team. Compensation
