Job description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) Manager to lead BIM/VDC operations on complex commercial construction projects. This role is ideal for a technical leader who combines advanced BIM expertise with strong leadership, communication, and team development skills. You will oversee VDC coordination, mentor team members, collaborate with project stakeholders, and play a key role in delivering major projects, including the Tampa Airport expansion.


VDC (Virtual Design & Construction) Manager

Location: Tampa, FL

Job Type: Full-Time | Direct Hire

Salary: $100,000–$130,000 DOE Negotiable


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead VDC/BIM coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and mentor VDC staff, consultants, and project teams.
  • Develop and enforce BIM execution plans, standards, and workflows.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary models with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and owners.
  • Conduct clash detection and model coordination using Navisworks.
  • Support project planning, constructability reviews, and field coordination.
  • Collaborate with project management and field operations to resolve design conflicts.
  • Train project teams on BIM/VDC best practices and Autodesk technologies.
  • Drive continuous process improvements within the VDC department.
  • Maintain strong communication across all project stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 7–15 years of BIM/VDC experience within commercial construction.
  • Strong leadership and people management experience.
  • Advanced proficiency with Autodesk Revit.
  • Extensive experience using Navisworks for coordination and clash detection.
  • Strong understanding of BIM coordination processes.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and develop technical teams.
  • Experience managing multiple stakeholders in complex construction projects.
  • Comfortable working onsite in a construction trailer environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Synchro.
  • Experience with Revizto.
  • Aviation construction project experience.
  • Healthcare construction project experience.
  • Background in architecture or design transitioning into construction.
  • Experience with large design-build contractors.

First-Year Expectations

  • Quickly become the VDC lead for the Tampa Airport project.

  • Deliver high-quality VDC support while developing future department capabilities.
