Job description

Leapros Skilled Trades is actively hiring Data Center Technician (OSP) in Denton, TX. The OSP Data Center Technician will support the installation and maintenance of outside plant infrastructure for new construction data center projects. This role focuses on high fiber-count cabling, splicing support, and the build-out of mission-critical telecommunications systems in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $23 to $30 Per Hour BOE

Licenses/Certifications Required:

  • OSHA 10

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with various aspects of outside plant (OSP) structured cabling installation, including routing, securing, and testing.
  • Support fiber splicing teams on high fiber-count cables and complex connectivity projects.
  • Perform fiber terminations, labeling, and bonding according to project blueprints and industry standards.
  • Help with telecommunication room build-outs, including the installation of ladder racks, fiber trays, and cabinets.
  • Execute moves, adds, and changes (MACs) for both physical and virtual infrastructure as required.
  • Conduct testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic links to ensure signal integrity and performance.
  • Maintain detailed documentation and record-keeping for cable paths and termination points.
  • Ensure all work on new construction sites complies with OSHA safety standards and site-specific security protocols.
  • Coordinate with project leads to ensure deployment schedules and quality benchmarks are met.

Qualifications:

  • 1+ year of experience in structured cabling, OSP, or technical construction environments.
  • Knowledge of fiber optic splicing, testing, and termination practices.
  • Experience working with high fiber-count cables in large-scale or hyperscale data centers.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, floor plans, and cable schedules.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard tools for fiber testing and installation.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional project team.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to work at heights, off of ladders, and in confined spaces.
  • Must be able to see and distinguish different colors for fiber identification.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and kneel for extended periods on a construction site.
  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions including heat, cold, and outdoor elements.

Pay Transparency:

The anticipated pay range for this position is $23 to $30 per hour, based on relevant factors such as experience, skills, education, internal equity, and geographic location. Final compensation will be determined during the interview process by the hiring authority.
