Business Title: Business Manager – Viral Vector Services

Thermo Fisher Scientific’s Viral Vector Services business is a rapidly growing, industry-leading Contract Development and Manufacturing Organization (CDMO) supporting customers in the development and manufacture of viral vector-based therapies. The Sr. Business Manager – Viral Vector Services is an experienced individual contributor responsible for supporting business management activities across customer programs and commercial portfolios. This role partners closely with commercial, operational, and functional teams to help ensure alignment between customer expectations, financial performance, and program execution.

This position supports business operations at the intersection of commercial strategy, financial management, and customer program delivery, contributing to revenue forecasting, operational execution, and customer satisfaction across the Viral Vector Services network.

How will you make an impact?

As a Sr. Business Manager, you will support the successful execution of customer programs by helping drive financial accuracy, commercial coordination, and operational alignment. You will contribute to customer proposals, forecasting activities, and cross-functional collaboration efforts that improve predictability and customer experience.

Your work will help strengthen execution consistency, support sustainable business growth, and enable effective delivery across customer programs and portfolios.

What you will do:Business Management & Program Support
  • Support business management activities for customer programs and commercial portfolios
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align commercial objectives with operational execution
  • Assist in tracking program performance metrics, risks, and business deliverables
  • Support coordination of customer-related business activities and communications
Customer Proposals, Pricing & Contracting
  • Assist in development of customer proposals, pricing analyses, and commercial documentation
  • Support contract execution, scope management, and change control activities
  • Help maintain pricing and proposal data within business systems and tools
Financial Performance & Forecasting
  • Support revenue forecasting and financial tracking activities for assigned programs or accounts
  • Partner with Finance and Operations teams to maintain accurate forecasting and reporting
  • Assist with invoicing coordination, materials reconciliation, and financial data management
  • Maintain accurate data within Salesforce and related enterprise systems
Customer & Stakeholder Coordination
  • Build collaborative working relationships with internal stakeholders and customer teams
  • Support alliance management activities, customer governance meetings, and reporting requirements
  • Escalate risks, issues, and opportunities appropriately to leadership
Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, consistency, and customer experience
  • Promote adoption of standard tools, templates, and business processes
  • Ensure work is performed in alignment with quality, compliance, and governance expectations
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Collaborate with Program Management, Sales, Site Leadership, Supply Chain, Quality, and Finance teams
  • Support execution activities that enable successful delivery of customer programs
  • Contribute to account planning, forecasting, and operational reviews as needed
How you will get here:Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or business discipline required
  • MBA or advanced business degree preferred
Experience
  • 5–8 years of experience in business management, commercial operations, finance, project/program management, or related fields
  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, gene therapy, or CDMO environments preferred
  • Experience working in cross-functional and matrixed organizations preferred
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Understanding of financial forecasting, commercial support, and business operations processes
  • Working knowledge of CDMO business operations and customer program environments preferred
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate across functions and contribute within matrixed teams
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and data accuracy
  • Experience using enterprise business systems such as Salesforce, planning tools, or project management platforms
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and customer-focused

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in Massachusetts is $103,100.00–$154,700.00.

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:
