OFS programs offer youth and young adults’ opportunities to gain meaningful, supported work experience, earn a high school diploma or occupational credential, and continue on to higher education and/or self-sustaining employment.

ABOUT OPERATION FRESH START: OFS programs are designed for a critical time in life: the transition to adulthood. They provide a path forward for emerging adults through mentoring, education, and employment training. OFS program participants earn their high school diploma, driver’s license, and certifications in the construction and conservation fields, and gain college/career readiness skills. Program participants are all also giving back to the community – building affordable homes for low-income families, and completing conservation projects and environmental justice work in city and county parks. After program completion, OFS staff continue to support program graduates as they transition into post-secondary education and/or self-sustaining employment.

PURPOSE: This position will be responsible for managing all aspects of Operation Fresh Start construction projects for the Legacy, Foundations for the Trades (FFTT) and Build Academy. Overall responsibilities include project timeline management and on-site construction training and quality control for all OFS projects. This position will also oversee the coordination of OFS building maintenance. Specific job duties are listed below.

HOURS: This is a part-time, Exempt position. Scheduled work hours are 6:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Mon-Thur

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The primary office of this position will be at Operation Fresh Start

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: $29,000 - $31,500/annually depending upon education and experience. Benefit package includes paid vacation, sick, personal, holiday, maternity/paternity time and 403B Retirement Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

· Commercial and/or residential general construction experience including all facets of carpentry and

project management - Preferred

· Experience interfacing with municipality building departments - Preferred

· Self-driven, highly motivated and able to work with minimal supervision

· Strong attention to detail while producing accurate and high-quality work

· Valid Wisconsin driver's license and good driving record required

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are typically expected of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.

Legacy/FFTT/Build Academy Construction Project Development and Coordination

    • Coordinate permit applications, inspections, occupancy certificates, Energy Star certifications, inspections, and warranty work.
    • Coordinate all material purchases and deliveries, and all work by subcontractors. Maintain inventory of surplus materials.
    • Monitor project process and quality of work being performed by subcontractors.
    • In coordination with Director of Build Academy & Construction and other Staff, purchase construction materials not supplied by established vendors.
    • Maintain relationships with project sponsor agencies to develop and coordinate scopes of work and monitor contracts.
    • Assist with developing project schedules and provide monthly schedule updates to Director of Build Academy & Construction.

On Site Construction Training and Quality Control

· Monitor project process and quality of work being performed at OFS jobsites.

· Communicate regularly with the Director of Build Academy & Construction concerning project progress, material needs, appropriate building techniques, and technical assistance.

Facility Systems and Building Maintenance

    • Maintains building to be functional and aesthetically appealing. Touching up finishes and engaging with contractors as appropriate.
