Job description

Location: NYC-based, with travel to our Hudson Valley headquarters 1–2 times per month (required)
Type: Part-Time

We're looking for a Social Media Content Creator/Editor with a background in real estate and home decor and social media content creation. In addition to capturing content, you will also be a part-time HOME DECOR STYLIST.

This is a rare hybrid role for someone with a real eye for design and an instinct for social media. You'll be on-site at staging installs and luxury properties styling spaces, and capturing, creating, and publishing the content that brings our brand to life across Instagram and beyond, IN ADDITION TO STAGING AND STYLING as a member of our creative design team. You'll also help bring our podcast to life, working alongside our videographer.

If you're the person whose camera roll is already full of beautifully composed interiors, who notices the light in a room, and who knows what makes a Reel actually land ... keep reading.

Cathy Hobbs Design Recipes (CHDR) is an award-winning home staging firm led by 5-time Emmy Award–winning television host, author, and HGTV Design Star finalist Cathy Hobbs. We're consistently ranked among the Top 10 staging companies in the U.S. and Top 5 in Manhattan, working with top real estate agents and luxury properties throughout the Tri-State Area. Our headquarters, Highland Passive House, is the first multi-use Passive House Certified warehouse in North America and a gorgeous backdrop for in-house content.

What you'll do:
Styling & On-Site Content (the heart of the role):
  • Style and refine spaces on-site at staging installs, luxury homes, and short-term rentals.
  • Capture content as it happens, capturing installs, behind-the-scenes, lifestyle, before-and-afters.
  • Develop a steady stream of on-brand visuals with a strong design point of view.
Social Media (ongoing ownership):
  • Plan weekly content across platforms, primarily Instagram.
  • Edit short-form video (stories, reels, clips, promos) that feels elevated, not generic.
  • Write captions in our brand voice and schedule/post consistently.
  • Translate trends into content that still looks high-end and intentional.
Podcast Support (monthly):
  • Assist our videographer with monthly batched recordings, setup, capture, and content flow.
  • Cut social teasers, trailers, and clips from each episode.
  • Help keep episodes organized and on schedule.

Who you are:
  • You have a genuine eye for design, styling, or interiors and you create content that shows it.
  • You're comfortable shooting and editing short-form video, and confident learning new tools (we use Descript, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, Canva, Edits, InStories, and Wave.io; familiarity is a huge plus, willingness is a must).
  • You understand social trends but know how to keep things elevated and on-brand.
  • You're organized, proactive, and happy wearing multiple hats.
  • You can work independently and collaborate with a creative team.
  • You're NYC-area-based and can travel to The Hudson Valley 1–2 times per month.

Bonus points for: a background in design, styling, real estate, or hospitality; experience shooting interiors or lifestyle content; any podcast or audio-editing exposure.

How to apply:
A cover letter with links to your work is required — it's how we get a feel for your eye and your voice, and applications without one won't be reviewed. Show us content you're proud of: a feed you've built, Reels and content you've made, spaces you've styled.
