Job Summary

The Disguise Programmer supports the development of immersive visual content that enhances the weekend experience at Crossroads. Working under the guidance of the Wonderwall Executive Producer and in close collaboration with Realtime Content Designers and the broader Experience Team, this role is central to delivering seamless, high-quality video playback and real-time interactive content on a large LED volume, as well as AR/XR projects. The ideal candidate has proven experience programming and operating Disguise media servers in live events, theatre, broadcast, or installations. This is a highly technical yet creative role, suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, innovative ministry environment. You'll be part of a forward-thinking team building the future of storytelling in the church.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, and operate Disguise media servers for asset reviews, previews, rehearsals, and special events.

  • Import, organize, and optimize video content within the Disguise workflow.

  • Build and validate timelines and content to ensure a clean handoff to the Disguise Media Server Operator.

  • Collaborate with creative teams and designers to implement visual designs accurately.

  • Integrate media servers with lighting, sound, and automation systems using timecode, OSC, MIDI, and other protocols.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during setup, rehearsals, and live shows.

  • Maintain and update system configurations, ensuring reliability and consistency.

  • Manage file organization and version control on NAS systems using Perforce.

  • Provide on-site and/or remote technical support for productions using Disguise.

  • Stay current with Disguise software updates, hardware developments, and industry best practices.

Experience/Skills Requirements

  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Disguise Programmer in live events, theatre, concerts, broadcast, or themed entertainment.

  • Proficiency with Disguise Designer software and hardware.

  • Experience with Perforce or similar version control systems for managing project files.

  • Strong understanding of video playback, projection mapping, and LED workflows.

  • Familiarity with networking (IP, Dante, SMPTE timecode, OSC, Art-Net/sACN).

  • Excellent troubleshooting ability and composure under pressure.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and system documentation.

  • Self-motivated and effective both independently and within a team.

  • Experience with real-time rendering engines (Notch, Unreal Engine, TouchDesigner).

  • Familiarity with lighting consoles and show control systems (e.g., GrandMA, ETC).

  • Knowledge of 3D workflows (Blender, Cinema 4D, Maya).

  • Basic understanding of audio/video signal flow and hardware.

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to walk up to 5 miles while performing duties, including standing, climbing, lifting, pulling, pushing, carrying, reaching, stooping, and crouching.

  • Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.

Scheduling/Travel Requirements

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including weekdays, weekends, and high-impact events at Crossroads.

  • Travel required as needed.
