POSITION Marketing Intern

EMPLOYMENT TYPE Part-time position 10-25 hours/week based in Detroit 

WAGE TYPE Hourly $15/hour


ABOUT US The Industrial Sewing and Innovation Center (ISAIC) is a Detroit-based national nonprofit institute for innovation and skilling in the advanced manufacturing of apparel and textiles. We inspire and equip the industry with the confidence to adopt new technologies and skills by developing innovative manufacturing methods that enhance efficiency, promote sustainability, and establish human-centric industry standards that elevate people.


ABOUT THE POSITION: We're seeking a marketing intern to support content creation and social media management activities, including graphic design, video creation, copywriting, and website maintenance. The marketing intern will support the communications team in developing and executing on the marketing strategy to heighten ISAIC's exposure, grow social media following and engagement, and educate individuals on the future of textile and apparel manufacturing.  


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Content Creation, Management, and Dissemination

Develop engaging content that reflects ISAIC's distinctive voice and brand identity, ensuring consistency across digital and print platforms.

  • Design creative graphics, layouts, and visual assets for print, digital, video, and motion graphics
  • Create high-quality graphics, banners, images, and other visual content for websites, social media, email, and marketing campaigns
  • Support the production, art direction, and execution of multimedia content by creatively leveraging existing and new assets
  • Capture and edit photo and video content at ISAIC headquarters and external events
  • Transform organizational data into compelling visual storytelling that highlights ISAIC's impact
  • Participate in brainstorming sessions with internal stakeholders to develop innovative marketing campaigns and content strategies
  • Assist with development of monthly reports
  • Develop educational and values-driven content, including video, that communicates ISAIC's mission, impact, and industry expertise
  • Organize and maintain ISAIC's digital asset library, ensuring accessibility, consistency, and version control
  • Assist the Communications and Engagement Specialist with publishing content across social media, company website, email marketing, and event platforms as needed

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Collaborate closely with the Communications and Engagement Specialist and other team members to define project requirements and translate ideas into visually compelling designs
  • Participate in meetings or events with contractors and third parties as needed

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency in social media platforms and content management tools, with a strong understanding of emerging trends and digital best practices
  • Proficiency in Canva, Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, or comparable graphic design software
  • Experience creating visual media, including photography, videography, and basic photo/video editing
  • Excellent written, visual, and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and work independently
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team-oriented environment with strong interpersonal skills
  • Familiarity with project management platforms preferred

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Major or significant coursework in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, or related disciplines highly preferred

Reports to: Communications and Engagement Specialist
