JOB TITLE Student Worker - S.I.M. Lab SupportJOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARYThe S.I.M. (Simulation Instruction Multimedia) Lab at Florida Polytechnic University provides an array of multi-media services and resources to faculty, students, and staff in support of the University's educational mission. The lab collaborates with various departments around the campus, supports student organizations, academic student projects, and more. The student technician role contributes to project development that fit the needs of the Lab's clientele.The SIM Lab delivers or supports a high-volume of work. Students must be able to focus and work efficiently to help clients meet deadlines and quality standards. The technician is expected to exhibit the highest degree of professionalism.JOB DESCRIPTION
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Student Lab Support in the SIM Lab is a great opportunity to learn new software and equipment and share that knowledge with others and in the making of all manner of media and video assets. The student worker must maintain professionalism and ensure the safety of oneself and those who are in the lab.
Being able to learn a variety of content creation software is equally important. The student worker must understand:
- OSHA compliance within the lab and operate the lab in a fashion that is secure and safe.
- Assembling a safe shooting environment in the SIM Lab Studio.
- Positive interactivity with clients entering the lab and being able to provide support to those individuals in an organized and timely fashion.
The student worker position will have many different responsibilities that can include:
- Video editing
- Audio production
- Equipment maintenance, management, and inventory
- Software updates
- 3D modelling
- Photography
- Videography
- Production lighting
- Computer management
- Graphic design
- Game development (including VR/MR/AR/XR)
- Assisting students with projects
- Interactive media development
- Data management
- Customer service
- Other tasks as needed
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong experience with some or all the following:
- Adobe Creative Cloud Suite (particularly Premiere Pro, Audition, After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator)
- Blender
- Autodesk products (particularly Maya, 3DS Max)
- Coding experience in C++ and Unity Hub
- Video/Audio Production and editing
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be currently enrolled or attending classes at Florida Polytechnic University.
- Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.25 and have successfully completed 9 credits or more in the most recent fall or spring semester with a GPA of 2.0 or better.
