Job Summary:

Bechtel Corporation is looking for an Instructional Designer who is a hands-on e-learning developer—someone who can build engaging, high-quality online training using Articulate Storyline and Rise. In this role, you’ll partner with subject matter experts to turn complex content into clear, effective learning experiences and performance support tools for Bechtel’s global workforce.
This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and will require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership. The work location is Houston, TX, and there is no relocation authorized for this role. #LI-KL1

Major Responsibilities:
  • Develop e-learning in Articulate Storyline and Rise across the full design lifecycle (analysis, design, development, testing, launch, maintenance).
  • Collaborate with SMEs to clarify needs, evaluate existing documentation, and recommend the best learning approach.
  • Create or edit supporting assets such as graphics, simple animations, video, and multimedia (as needed for the course design).
  • Troubleshoot technical issues during development and after release.
  • Apply and follow Corporate Learning & Development standards and best practices.
  • Stay current on instructional design methods, tools, and learning technology.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • 5+ years in adult learning design and development, including 2+ years building corporate e-learning.
  • Strong, hands-on experience building courses in Articulate Storyline and Rise (this role is not just storyboarding).
  • Proficiency with tools used in modern e-learning production (e.g., Synthesia or similar).
  • Graphic and/or video development experience to support e-learning delivery.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint).
  • Strong attention to detail; able to work independently and collaborate across teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a matrix organization.
  • Flexibility to support global time zones as needed.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG or equivalent).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak Spanish is not required, but nice to have.
