REPORTS TO: Associate Dean of Athletics & Engagement

DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Director of Athletics will assist the administration of the day-to-day operations of the Athletics Program and support the Marketing and Communications office under the direction of the Associate Dean of Athletics and Engagement to include overseeing the department's sports information and media relations, assisting with managing athletic facilities, and supporting efforts of the colleges Marketing and Communication office with college wide promotional marketing.
This position:
Athletic Media Relations:
  • Coordinate the athletic department record keeping and reporting of team and individual statistics to the YSCC, USCAA and local media outlets.
  • Archive all record keeping and sports specifics statistics for historical use by the college.
  • Coordinate the department's press/media releases.
  • Maintain the athletic department website, social media accounts, streaming of athletic contests, team publications, and video content.
  • Work closely with the College Marketing and Communications staff to ensure proper athletics and college-wide branding/marketing initiatives are being met.

Intercollegiate Day to Day Operations:
  • Serve as a site supervisor during varsity athletic contests per YSCC standard operating procedures.
  • Schedule and train student workers to assist with sport-specific game management duties, and support the management of athletic facilities.
  • Assist with the administration and supervision of department and contract staff.
  • Coordinate with other athletic programs to ensure accuracy in scheduling and promotional initiatives.

Office of Marketing and Communications content creation and marketing support:
  • Assist the Office of Communications & Marketing with College-wide communications, marketing, social media, and storytelling initiatives by gathering, creating, editing, organizing, and delivering photo, video, graphic, social media, livestreaming, and other digital content for use across official College platforms.
  • This work may include event photography and videography, short-form video support, livestreaming support for select College events, basic graphic design, content archiving, and assistance with maintaining a regular posting schedule as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Athletic Administration, Physical Education, Marketing, Communications Recreation or Management
  • Two (2) to four (4) years relevant experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Athletic Administration, Physical Education, Marketing, Communications Recreation or Management

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Experience with coaching or administering athletic programs at the college level
  • Experience with social media trends within the athletics and communication industry
  • Experience with graphical design programs within industry standards
