Graduate Assistant - Admissions Social Media

Job Description:

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Admissions Social Media supports the Office of Admissions by developing, coordinating, and executing social media initiatives that enhance prospective student engagement and promote the Mount experience. Working closely with the Social Media & Content Creation Ambassadors, this position helps create authentic student-focused content, manage Admissions social media channels, monitor engagement, and support recruitment marketing efforts.
The Graduate Assistant serves as a key member of the Admissions team, helping to showcase campus life, academic opportunities, student success stories, and admissions events across digital platforms. The position requires creativity, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a working knowledge of social media trends and best practices. Some evening and weekend hours may be required to support content creation and admissions events. This position reports to the Director of Admissions for Events.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Social Media & Content Creation

  • Collaborate with the Social Media & Content Creation Ambassadors to develop engaging content for Admissions social media platforms.
  • Assist in planning, creating, scheduling, and publishing content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, LinkedIn, and other relevant platforms.
  • Capture photo and video content during campus events, student activities, visit programs, and special admissions initiatives.
  • Support the creation of short-form video content, including reels, stories, and student spotlights.
  • Assist in maintaining a social media content calendar aligned with admissions recruitment goals.
  • Monitor social media accounts and respond to comments, direct messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Research social media trends and recommend new strategies to increase audience engagement and reach.
  • Track and report on social media performance metrics and campaign outcomes.

Recruitment & Student Engagement

  • Assist with on-campus visit programs and admissions events as needed.
  • Interact with prospective students and families during recruitment events.
  • Help develop student-focused marketing campaigns that support recruitment objectives.
  • Serve as a student ambassador for the University and share authentic perspectives on the Mount experience.

Operations

  • Maintain timely and accurate records of interactions within the University's CRM system.
  • Assist with routine data management and reporting.
  • Support other Admissions projects and initiatives as assigned.

Job Requirements: Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Must be accepted into a graduate program at Mount St. Mary's University.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated interest in social media marketing, digital communications, content creation, or related fields.
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms preferred.
  • Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, CapCut, or similar content creation tools preferred.
  • Basic photography and video editing skills preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Salary/Hours/Benefits

  • A stipend of $6000 per academic year.
  • 20 hours per week for 9 months (August - May)
