Job description

The Listing Specialist will write and create informative, accurate, market-relevant and search-optimized content listings for all consignment auction, SIGMA Recovery clients and SIGMA owned listing write-ups. This role will create template drafts by providing high level research on industry equipment to then be utilized by SIGMA teams across the organization. The Listing Specialist will ensure listing and template objectives are achieved. 

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive research on assigned equipment by contacting equipment manufacturers, referring to technical specifications, engineering illustrations, and other relevant resources. 
  • Collaborate with acquisitions department and equipment owners to gather information and/or documentation 
  • Translate technical information from internal and external sources to write, edit, proof and format equipment descriptions in accordance with company guidelines. When necessary select high-quality photos and videos, drawings, diagrams, and charts of inventory items that increase users’ understanding to be used for the listing; optimize all images for web use using photo-editing software. 
  • Conduct advanced research on inbound inventory items to provide as much relevant information as possible before arrival, therefore allowing the company to post listings on website. 
  • Research and locate equipment brochures and technical specification sheets that can be uploaded to Sigma’s equipment listing page and made available to customers and sales staff. 
  • Ensure the timely completion and accuracy of equipment documentation process - identification of equipment purchase opportunity through approved listing.
  • Assist the sales teams in gathering information for customer requests. 
  • Learn and understand industry standards. 


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly motivated; self starter  
  • Professional delivery of messaging via phone and email
  • Basic video editing and familiarity with YouTube's upload process would be beneficial; ability to read equipment manufacturer's operation manuals, maintenance manuals and machine schematic drawings. 
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. 
  • Knowledge of Search Engine Optimization principles. 
  • Experience with optimizing images for web use with tools such as Corel or Photoshop a plus


Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in a technical, business or a related field is strongly preferred.
  • Previous experience in technical role
