Job description

Do you want to do work that matters, alongside supportive leaders who will help you grow faster than you ever thought possible? Are you a creative problem-solver who is energized by challenges? You've come to the right place.
YOUR IMPACT
You will be a member of the Visual & Multimedia Storytelling leadership team and serve as the operating owner for the Reach and Engagement (R&E) multimedia ecosystem: podcasts, video, YouTube, multimedia publishing workflows, and related audience-development strategy.
You'll work with colleagues to manage the development and publication of distinctive audio and video content across digital platforms, and to shape how that content is structured, prioritized, produced, packaged, distributed, measured, and governed.
You will directly manage a team of content creators who work closely with editors and subject-matter experts, including firm senior partners, to create engaging, informative podcasts and videos for external publication, as well as other multimedia projects as needed. You'll combine editorial judgment, production coordination, audience growth, analytics, stakeholder management, and process design to take a data-driven approach to scaling McKinsey thought leadership through high-quality multimedia storytelling.
You'll act as a thought partner (e.g., editor, operating lead) and oversee a small team of video and podcast creators. You'll review and edit content that rigorously follows conventions of written English and ensure consistency of voice, tone, and style-as well as alignment with firm guidelines, working with stakeholders to discuss and develop changes.
You'll own the direction of the firm's multimedia (podcasts, video) portfolio, including management of all related people, platforms (McKinsey.com, Omny, YouTube), and channels. You will rationalize the portfolio to meet the firm's evolving audience-development goals, and concentrate resources on fewer, higher-impact series that offer clearer audience pathways, stronger editorial consistency, and better return on investment. You will own the execution of a deliberate YouTube strategy, with input from R&E colleagues, so that the firm's channel is clear in its prioritization of content and optimized for audience growth.
You'll oversee the operation and continuous improvement of McKinsey's multimedia ecosystem, coordinating podcast and video production, distribution, and editorial planning across channels. Using audience analytics, market developments, and firm priorities, you'll make recommendations about programming, portfolio strategy, and audience growth. You'll also define and maintain the multimedia operating model, including workflows, documentation, governance, editorial standards, key performance indicators, decision rights, and content-placement criteria, providing clear direction for how multimedia content is produced, managed, measured, and scaled.
YOUR GROWTH
You are someone who thrives in a high-performance environment, bringing a growth mindset and entrepreneurial spirit to tackle meaningful challenges that have a real impact.
In return for your drive, determination, and curiosity, we'll provide the resources, mentorship, and opportunities to help you quickly broaden your expertise, grow into a well-rounded professional, and contribute to work that truly makes a difference.
When you join us, you will have:
  • Continuous learning: Our learning and apprenticeship culture, backed by structured programs, is all about helping you grow while creating an environment where feedback is clear, actionable, and focused on your development. The real magic happens when you take the input from others to heart and embrace the fast-paced learning experience, owning your journey.
  • A voice that matters: From day one, we value your ideas and contributions. You'll make a tangible impact by offering innovative ideas and practical solutions, all while upholding our unwavering commitment to ethics and integrity. We not only encourage diverse perspectives, but they are critical in driving us toward the best possible outcomes.
  • Global community: With colleagues across 65+ countries and over 100 different nationalities, our firm's diversity fuels creativity and helps us come up with the best solutions. Plus, you'll have the opportunity to learn from exceptional colleagues with diverse backgrounds and experiences.
  • Exceptional benefits: On top of a competitive salary (based on your location, experience, and skills), we provide a comprehensive benefits package to enable holistic well-being for you and your family.

YOUR QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
  • 10+ years of experience in business publishing and editing, including digital publishing, preferably for an English-language business publication or professional-services firm with clear spike in translating complex data and research insights into compelling visual storytelling
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team, including direct reports and matrixed collaborators, in a fast-paced publishing environment
  • Ability to take a data-driven approach to portfolio strategy-defining target audiences, formats, and channels; setting launch, sunset, and cadence criteria; and using platform and audience analytics to drive portfolio and programming decisions
  • Deep understanding of global business trends and detailed knowledge of two or more industries, with the ability to quickly absorb complex ideas and distill them into accessible multimedia formats for global audiences
  • Strong data literacy and familiarity with audience engagement and discovery methods (for example, SEO/GEO basics, social media, platform analytics, A/B testing)
  • Strong mastery of Microsoft Office and collaboration tools; familiarity with multimedia publishing and analytics tools (such as Airtable, podcast platforms, and dashboards) is a plus
  • Strong editorial skills (writing, editing, judgment, story structure) and business literacy, with the ability to challenge content (e.g., headlines, transcripts, episode descriptions, decks, and promotional language) constructively based on industry knowledge and audience needs
  • Exceptional project-management and organizational skills; ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, manage complex processes, and meet short- and long-term deadlines
  • Ability to work independently in a low-structure environment and to deal with ambiguity, with sound judgment about when to proactively seek guidance and a willingness to do so
  • Excellent communication skills (oral, written, presentation) and confidence in interactions with senior stakeholders, with a strong ability to achieve consensus across multiple contributors

Please review the additional requirements regarding essential job functions of McKinsey colleagues.
Our unwavering commitment to integrity drives everything we do, guiding us to always act in the best interests of our clients, our people, and the communities we serve.
