Your New Role...
CNN's Video Editorial team creates original video for every CNN platform. We write, produce, shoot and edit in close collaboration across the organization, with a special focus on vertical video, covering breaking news, trending topics and the issues that matter most. From the day's biggest headlines to the stories driving conversation, we aim to inform and engage the largest global digital audience in news today.
We are looking for a full-time Production Assistant for our weekend shift. The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller with a flexible attitude and a creative mind. Production Assistants can learn from some of the industry's best digital storytellers and work with colleagues from across CNN Digital's operations around the world.
Production Assistants will monitor the news cycle, pitch story ideas, gather elements, do research, write scripts, and edit video in-house. They will edit videos in both 16x9 and vertical formats for CNN's platforms and social accounts.
Your Role Accountabilities...
  • Researching, writing scripts and editing video for all digital platforms
  • Monitoring breaking news, live events and search/social trends
  • Taking part in creative brainstorming and generating story ideas
  • Experimenting with new video formats on multiple platforms
  • Gathering elements including photos and historical footage
  • Assisting reporters and producers with story research and newsgathering
  • Working with teams across the company to create compelling video stories
  • Completing production workflows within CNN's content management systems

Qualifications & Experience...
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism and/or video production, or relevant work experience
  • 0-2 year's digital news and video experience
  • Working knowledge of Adobe Premiere or similar video editing software
  • Strong interest in news
  • Familiarity with digital video and social media platforms
  • Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills -- a team player who is ready to jump in quickly whenever news breaks
  • Ability to work in a fast, high-pressure environment
  • Work schedule flexibility. Must be able to work AM, PM, weekend and holiday shifts and adjust to a rotational schedule to fulfill business needs
  • Foreign language skills a plus

Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros. Discovery's total compensation package for employees. Pay Range: $40,768.00 - $75,712.00 salary per year.
