Job description

The Lead Video Editor sits at the intersection of creative execution and production at WorkMoney Media. This role partners closely with the CEO, EVP Production, and leadership team to bring our stories to life - shaping everything from premium longform projects to daily, cross-platform brand content.
This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role that balances editing with leadership. The Lead Video Editor would execute the tone and standard set by the CEO and creative producers for how our content looks and feels, while managing the flow of work across internal teams and freelance editors, motion designers, and post-production partners. From stepping into the edit on key projects to guiding others through feedback and final delivery, this role plays a central part in how our content comes together. They also own and refine our post-production workflows and file organization systems, ensuring projects are structured, accessible, and built for efficiency across the team.
This role is ideal for someone who is both creative and operational-someone who enjoys being in the work while also stepping back to keep projects moving. The right person brings strong editorial instincts, a clear point of view on storytelling, and a natural ability to organize people and process. They take pride in delivering high-quality work, collaborate seamlessly across teams, and are energized by building alongside a thoughtful, mission-driven group.
Compensation Range
$105,610 - $129,079 per year
Role Responsibilities
Editorial Leadership
  • Lead the editing process across key projects, including hands-on editing and supervising junior editors
  • Set and uphold the creative standard for how WorkMoney Media content looks and feels
  • Review cuts and provide clear, actionable feedback to internal editors, freelancers, and other specialists (e.g. animators, graphic design, and content producers)
  • Collaborate with the content teams to shape story, pacing, and execution
  • Step into the edit when needed to ensure quality and timelines are met

Project + Workflow Management
  • Manage the flow of post-production work across multiple projects, ensuring deadlines are met
  • Assign editing work to freelancers and collaborators based on project needs and bandwidth
  • Track progress, flag risks, and keep projects moving forward
  • Coordinate across production, editorial, and design teams for smooth handoffs
  • Help build and refine post-production workflows, systems, and organization
  • Source, onboard, and manage freelance editors, motion designers, and post-production partners
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for post-production collaborators
  • Provide guidance and feedback to ensure work aligns with creative expectations
  • Partner with producers, writers, and leadership to shape content and explore new formats and ideas

Secondary Responsibilities
  • Assist in building and maintaining a roster of trusted freelance editors, motion designers, and post partners
  • Contribute to internal documentation and organization of post-production processes
  • Provide occasional support on pre-production planning, including reviewing scripts or weighing in on shoot approach from an editorial perspective
  • Stay current on industry trends, formats, and platform shifts, and share relevant insights with the team

Requirements
Minimum & Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in supervising video editing and post-production, ideally within a media, agency, or digital content environment
  • Advanced proficiency in editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro (After Effects and basic motion graphics experience a plus)
  • Proven experience managing post-production workflows across multiple projects, including working with freelance editors and external partners
  • Strong editorial instincts with a clear point of view on storytelling, pacing, and visual style across formats and platforms
  • Experience editing both short-form and longer-form content, with an understanding of what performs across digital and social channels
  • Familiarity with post-production tools and systems (e.g., Frame.io, LucidLink, shared drives, versioning workflows)
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail and follow-through
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to give clear, thoughtful, and actionable feedback
  • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and priorities in a fast-paced, creative environment
  • Comfortable balancing hands-on editing work with project and team management responsibilities
  • Inspired by WorkMoney Media's mission to improve the financial well-being of everyday Americans

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working in a start-up or fast-growing digital media environment
  • Brings an established network of trusted freelance editors, motion designers, and post-production talent
  • Background in digital media and social video. Traditional entertainment background is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to lead creative projects from concept through final delivery
  • Strong understanding of storytelling across formats, with an eye toward what resonates with audiences
  • Experience managing or collaborating with freelance editors and creative partners
  • Passion for creative excellence and building efficient, thoughtful processes
