Job description

About Commonwealth Fusion Systems:

Commonwealth Fusion Systems is on a mission to deliver the urgent transition to fusion energy.

Combining decades of research, top talent, and new technologies, we’re designing and building commercially viable fusion power plants. And we're working with policymakers, suppliers, and many others to build the energy industry of the future.

We’re in the best position to make it happen. Since 2018, we’ve raised $4 billion of capital, making us the largest and leading fusion company in the world.

Now we’re looking for more thinkers, doers, builders, and makers to join us. People who’ll bring new perspectives, solve tough problems, and thrive as part of a team.

If that’s you and this role fits, we want to hear from you.

Join the power movement as Vice President of Supply Chain

CFS's Supply Chain team has spent the last several years delivering the components needed for our SPARC tokamak; things like multi-ton forgings, cryoplants, vacuum vessels, superconductors, power supplies, and many more highly customized parts. In the process, we've built a deeply technical and talented Supply Chain team and we've planted the seeds for a future fusion supply chain. Now it's time to scale the global fusion Supply Chain to deliver many ARC power plants.

We're hiring our VP of Supply Chain to lead us through these next phases of scale-up, supplier development, planning, procurement, logistics, supplier quality, and systems. In this role, you will drive a multi-billion dollar procurement portfolio, scaling the global fusion supply chain and architecting CFS's internal supply chain systems, enabling the delivery of many ARCs per year.

What you'll do:
  • Supply Chain Strategy and Roadmap: Build the comprehensive plan to scale the global fusion supply chain to deliver all the components of ARC power plants

  • Activate Global Supplier Relationships: Sell suppliers on CFS's vision, and on scaling their capacity towards this vision. Do this globally, built on a strong understanding of global cultural differences and norms. Identify, initiate, structure, negotiate, and close partnerships with these suppliers

  • Complex Supplier Partnerships: Specialize in creative deal structures that align incentives and build robust supplier partnerships. Be a savvy win-win negotiator. Bring a full toolkit of deal structure and contract term options

  • Leadership: Lead and grow our ~100 person team of exceptional supply chain experts. Hire brilliant colleagues. Maintain a strong team culture connected to our mission

  • Supply Chain Systems: Continuously improve the company's supply chain systems, processes, and tools to remove waste, increase speed, and multiply the capabilities of our teams

What we’re looking for:
  • 20+ years of progressive supply chain experience, including VP-level strategic leadership roles scaling cutting edge, hardware-intensive supply chains
  • A proven ability to create and execute complex supplier development roadmaps for scaling up global capacity
  • An exceptional leader and hirer of world class teams
  • A talented architect of scalable supply chain systems and processes. Demonstrated ability to build a supply chain for a new industry
Bonus points for:
  • Experience at multiple company scales, especially those rapidly growing from ~1000 person companies to ~5000 people
Must-have Requirements:
  • Perform activities such as typing, standing, or sitting for extended periods of time
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call regularly
  • Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
Salary range for this full-time position + equity + benefitsThe actual salary will depend on level, location, qualifications, and experience. The range displayed on each job posting reflects new hire salaries for the position across all US locations.

•  Competitive compensation with equity
•  13 Company-wide Holidays
