The US Assurance (Assurance) role reports into SVP, US Assurance, USA and is responsible for risk-based monitoring and testing of processes and outcomes of First Line of Defence (1LOD) activities to provide assurance that the business is operating in line with relevant laws, regulations, principles, and HSBC Group standards and policies. The role also leads deep-dive and thematic reviews on issues, opportunities and strategic changes.

Principal activities
  • Lead assigned assurance reviews end-to-end (planning/scoping, fieldwork/testing, reporting, issue management) to ensure timely, high-quality execution
  • Develop actionable review strategies to assess whether business controls meet requirements
  • Provide effective 2LOD challenge of 1LOD risk and control activities, including assessing residual risk and coverage gaps
  • Identify potential compliance issues arising from the Bank’s business activities using SME regulatory compliance knowledge
  • Produce clear review reports for key stakeholders, including ratings, owners and actions
  • Contribute to risk‑based assurance planning with relevant Risk Stewards
  • Partner with automation/analytics specialists to enable forensic testing and analysis of large data sets within reviews
  • Support consolidated MI on monitoring and review outcomes for senior management
Functional Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of markets trading and investment banking products, rules and regulations; strong understanding of institutional banking businesses (products, operations, systems, structures)
  • Aware of regulatory compliance requirements for Bank, Swap Dealer and Security‑Based Swap Dealer legal entities
  • Experience in Swap Dealer and Broker Dealer compliance control testing
