Job description

Vice President of Engineering

Reporting to the CEO, the Vice President of Engineering will be responsible to lead and manage the engineering team in the pursuit of integrating distributed energy solutions into our client’s operations. This includes the full range of activities including conceptual design, detailed design, equipment sizing and specifications, construction, QA/QC and commissioning support of various distributed energy resource (DER) technologies including combined heat & power (CHP), fuel cells, linear generators, battery energy storage, solar & geothermal systems.

Preferred to work in a hybrid basis near either our Chicago or New York office but may also be considered remote for the right candidate.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and lead the engineering processes supporting the design, specifications, construction and commissioning of DER systems
  • Evaluate client situation and needs in order to lead the conceptual design of the appropriate DER systems
  • Lead internal and external engineering to ensure work is performed accurately to design and specifications
  • Oversee the development of work scopes, equipment specifications, QA/QC requirements, commissioning procedures in support of work
  • Collaborate with procurement, engineering and construction partners to prepare project work plans and project schedules and develop solutions and resolve issues
  • Support identification, evaluation and qualification of new engineering, supplier or construction partners
  • Manage deliverable process to ensure client needs and expectations are exceeded
  • Ensure all relevant standards and codes are adhered in design, manufacturing and construction of equipment and systems
Requirements
  • Min 10-15 years in relevant energy system design and construction; 5 years in a leadership role
  • Bachelor’s Degree (minimum) in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil Engineering
  • Knowledge of mechanical and electrical fundamentals of distributed energy systems
  • Strong problem-solving and communications skills
