Job Summary
This position will perform administrative functions by assisting with planning, organizing, directing the day- to -day operations of the Finance Office for Grambling State Athletics including not limited to expense approval and budgeting teams and administrative units (including major revenue categories).
Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversight of daily financial operations.
  • Supervises finance office staff members.
  • Lead in the development, planning, and implementation of the overall athletics department budget.
  • Responsible for monitoring and accurately projecting most revenue categories and operating expenses for teams and administrate units, based on input from other departments.
  • Lead in the development of multi-year financial planning and capital project budgeting.
  • Oversees the financial operations for the Grambling University Foundation, including monthly financial reporting, annual audit and development of financial policies and procedures.
  • Serve as the chief contact with the Grambling University Foundation, including oversight of daily financial activity and fund monitoring.
  • Responsible for the preparation of financial audits and reporting for the athletics department including but not limited to the NCAA Financial Report, associated audit and the Equity in Athletic Disclosure Act (EADA) financial report
  • Responsible for contract research and negotiations for the athletic department vendor contracts.
  • Assist Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics with communication with the Grambling University Foundation Board.
  • Primarily responsible for developing Grambling State Athletics financial policies.
  • Assist the Vice President for Intercollegiate Athletics with oversight of the daily operations and long-term goal setting for the Finance Office.
  • Responsible for ensuring the successful financial performance of Grambling State Athletics.
  • Represents the Department of Athletics at Conference and/or University Committee meetings.
  • Represents Grambling State mission, vision and values.
  • Serves as exemplar for personal/professional integrity.
  • Other special projects and duties as assigned by the Vice President of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Qualifications
Minimum:
  • Bachelor' degree in Accounting, Sports Administration, Finance, Business or related field.
  • Two or more years of experience as an administrative, which includes three (3) years of supervisory experience within a collegiate athletics program or any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Effective written/oral communication.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Sound judgment and maturity.
  • Ability to work nights and weekends.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
Preferred:
  • Master's Degree
  • Previous experience in intercollegiate athletics.
