About the Hiring Group

The role leads RTI's Growth Unit, which manages how RTI pursues, wins, and grows our project portfolio across commercial and public sector in collaboration with technical staff across the organization.

What You'll Do

The Senior Vice President, Growth (SVP/G) is the senior executive responsible for developing and leading RTI Main's integrated Growth System and translating organizational strategy, differentiated capabilities, and market intelligence into sustainable revenue growth across public-sector and commercial markets. The SVP/G is accountable for establishing a disciplined, market-driven approach to identifying, prioritizing, pursuing, and winning business. The SVP/G chairs the RTI Main Growth Council which is the organization's primary cross-functional governance body for growth and supports executive leadership in evaluating and pursuing both organic and inorganic growth opportunities, including strategic partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and mergers and acquisitions. The role requires a leader who can simultaneously serve as strategist, integrator, operator, and growth executive, bringing strategic discipline to RTI Main's priorities while building the systems and capabilities required to win.

Essential Duties:
  • Lead and oversee RTI Main's business development strategy to accelerate revenue growth across Public Sector and Commercial markets, ensuring strong alignment with strategic objectives and evolving market dynamics.
  • Chair the Growth Council and ensure it functions as the organization's primary cross-functional governance mechanism for growth, establishing priorities, agendas, decision processes, and accountability mechanisms integrating perspectives from Strategy, Solutions, Government Affairs, Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, and other relevant functions.
  • Establish and lead the strategy and organizational structure to foster seamless cross-functional collaboration with the Solutions Organization, ensuring proposals and solutions meet client funding priorities and needs.
  • Establish a common growth operating model with disciplined processes for opportunity identification, qualification, pipeline management, account planning, capture, and go/no-go decisions improving CRM discipline, forecasting accuracy, and pipeline transparency across Public Sector and Commercial markets.
  • Serve as the tip of the spear on RTI Main's inorganic growth strategy leading the identification and evaluation of partnerships, alliances, joint ventures, and acquisition opportunities that accelerate strategy or enhance access to priority capabilities, customers, markets, or technologies  working in close collaboration with Solutions and Corporate Development.
  • Ensure continuous feedback integration with executive leadership to align growth initiatives with broader organizational priorities, strategic investments, and capability development.

Success in this role will be evidenced by:

  • Sustainable revenue and margin growth
  • Improved Public Sector and Commercial win rates
  • Increased pipeline quality and forecast reliability
  • Growth in priority markets and strategic accounts
  • Revenue diversification across customers, markets, and funding sources
  • Disciplined resource allocation and measurable return on growth investments
  • Effective identification and execution of inorganic growth opportunities

What You'll Need

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 20 years of experience, Master's degree and 16 years of experience, PhD and 12 years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future.

Skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and executing comprehensive growth strategies across public and private sector markets, aligned with organizational priorities and evolving market dynamics.
  • Proven ability to lead high-performing business development teams to identify, cultivate, and convert opportunities into long-term client and partner relationships across U.S. government, foundation, and commercial sectors.
  • Demonstrated ability to build operating systems, governance mechanisms, and organizational capabilities — vs. simply managing existing sales processes — with direct M&A lifecycle and post-acquisition integration experience strongly preferred.
  • Deep understanding of the nuances, procurement practices, and relationship dynamics in public sector (federal, state/local, foundations) and commercial environments.
  • Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills to engage internal and external stakeholders, serve as a thought leader with clients and partners, and drive alignment at the C-suite and executive leadership level.
  • Adept at building, mentoring, and scaling multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, innovation, and inclusion.
  • Demonstration of RTI Values and Lead Forward behaviors is critical to the Institute's success.
