Position Summary

As the Vice President, Data, you will lead transformative initiatives across omnichannel customer technology, enterprise data, analytics, and data science. Reporting directly to the SVP of Product, Data & Commercial Technology, this role is responsible for driving customer engagement, revenue growth, operational efficiency, and digital transformation across a multi-brand enterprise serving both B2B and B2C customers.

The VP owns the strategy, execution, and evolution of the enterprise data roadmap, overseeing data infrastructure, business intelligence, analytics, and data science capabilities that enable personalized customer experiences, data-driven decision-making, and scalable business growth. This leader will also build, develop, and inspire high-performing teams while fostering a culture of innovation and engineering excellence.

You will lead two key functions:

  • Data Engineering & Business Intelligence: Responsible for modernizing enterprise data infrastructure, data platforms, governance, and business intelligence engineering.
  • Data Science & Analytics: Responsible for advanced analytics, machine learning, and applied data science to improve customer acquisition, onboarding, retention, engagement, and overall business performance.

You have a proven track record of leading complex, cross-functional transformation initiatives from strategy through execution. You excel at delivering enterprise-wide programs aligned with C-suite priorities, driving measurable business outcomes while managing long-term initiatives across internal and external stakeholders.

This is a highly collaborative leadership role, partnering closely with the Chief Commercial Officer, Business Unit COOs, SVP of Product & Design, SVP of Product Engineering, executive leadership, board members, and cross-functional teams to translate strategic business objectives into scalable technology solutions and deliver an integrated commercial, product, and customer experience strategy.

You are a strategic, business-minded leader who builds high-performing organizations, leads through change, and consistently delivers results. You foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and empowered teams while maintaining a strong focus on business outcomes, innovation, and engineering excellence.

Position Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and execute a comprehensive technology strategy for commercial systems, datainfrastructure, and customer engagement platforms.
  • Build the next-generation customer engagement "Engine," delivering measurableimprovements in customer acquisition, retention, ARPU, and EBITDA.
  • Build andmaintainstrong relationships with stakeholders from the board to practitioner-level to align technology initiatives with businessobjectivesdriving digital transformation.
  • Integrate data functions, unifying data infrastructure, creating self-service BI capacity, andoptimizing teams to align data and analytics efforts with commercial, product, and CX goals.
  • Champion the shift to an integrated commercial and product strategy by enabling self-servicefor functional teams and delivering more high-value algorithmic work using AI/ML.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Build and scale a high-performing team of ~25FTEs and consultants, including resources forEngineering, Analytics, and Data Science.
  • Lead the transformation of the Data organization into a value-driven (vs. technology-driven)model supporting commercial, digital product, and customer experience domains.
  • Guide the evolution of the team from baseline support to a mature omnichannelenablement organizationleveragingdata and insights to drive revenue,EBITDAand NPS.
  • Develop a leadership layer across Data and Engine functions through internal advancement,role re-definition, and strategic hiring to create scale and accountability for stakeholders.
  • Cultivate a culture of value delivery, transparency, and accountability, while driving iterativeimprovement, greater operationalrigorand prioritization of high-value ML innovation work.

Technology Leadership

  • Direct the modernization of enterprise-wide data infrastructure, BI,analyticsand datascience tools, migrating,consolidatingand standardizing tools and vendors.
  • Ensure alignment between BI, analytics, and Data Science initiatives and business goals,leveragingcontinuous testing and optimization to enhance customer and enterprise value.
  • Ensure alignment between commercial technology initiatives and customer-facing productroadmap, softwaredevelopmentand integration initiatives.
  • Partner with external vendors including Salesforce, AWS, and implementation partners, todeliver cost-effective solutions whilemaintainingstrategic direction and execution quality.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with the Chief Commercial Officer, COO for Online, COO for Campus, andSVP Product to ensure seamless execution of commercial technology strategies.
  • Collaborate with sales,marketingand partner leadership to align technology withoperational goals, while navigating resistance and driving adoption.
  • Present strategies and outcomes to executive leadership and the Board,leveragingdata andanalysis to build consensus and drive decisions.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 15+ years progressive tech leadership experience with 7+ years in senior management roles.
  • Experience leading large-scale, full-lifecycle digital transformation initiatives and platformconsolidations in B2B and B2C settings, managing internal teams and external partners.
  • Experience merging disparate systems and teams, with a focus on enabling personalizedcustomer experiences for omnichannel, multi-product customer acquisition and retention.
  • Proven track-record leading and executing technology and data-specific transformationinitiatives delivering compelling measurable impact.
  • Senior-level leadership background across high-growth entrepreneurial environments andcompanies undergoing transformational changes in corporate development.
  • Hands-on experience leading teams in creating business leverage (Revenue, EBITDA, NPS)using commercial technology and customer engagement platforms to grow and scale thesecapabilities on a strategic basis.
  • Track recordbuilding and scaling high-performing technical and business-facing teams
  • Deep understanding of the modern data stack and its deployment for BI, Analytics and DataScience applications in commercial and product use cases, witha track recordof successfulimplementations at scale.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with boards, C-levelexecutivesand cross-functionalimplementation teams, navigatingresistanceand generating buy-in from stakeholders
  • Superior communication skills, with an emphasis on brevity, clarity, and data-drivenpersuasion.
  • Industry experience in education, B2C, or consumer-facing products/servicesrequired.
