VP, Translational and Computational Pathology - CLIA Director
Location: North Brunswick, NJ (Onsite)
Reports to: CEO
Salary: $375,000–$525,000 base

Position Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Director & VP, Translational and Computational Pathology will provide strategic, scientific, and operational leadership across pathology, biomarker, and companion diagnostic initiatives. Serving as the designated CLIA Laboratory Director, this individual will oversee laboratory operations, assay development, digital pathology programs, and translational research efforts while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to advance innovative oncology diagnostics.
Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as Clinical Laboratory Director with oversight of CLIA, CAP, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Lead pathology operations, laboratory quality systems, accreditation readiness, and continuous process improvement.
  • Drive translational pathology strategy supporting biomarker discovery, companion diagnostics, and clinical development programs.
  • Oversee development, validation, and implementation of pathology-based assays, including immunohistochemistry (IHC) and tissue-based biomarker platforms.
  • Partner with pharmaceutical and clinical development teams to support translational research and clinical trial initiatives.
  • Provide leadership for digital and computational pathology programs, including image analysis and AI-enabled technologies.
  • Collaborate with scientific, engineering, and data science teams to evaluate and implement innovative diagnostic solutions.
  • Build relationships with academic investigators, industry partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to scientific publications, presentations, and thought leadership activities.
Requirements
  • MD or DO degree required.
  • Board Certification in Anatomic and Clinical Pathology (AP/CP).
  • Eligible to serve as Clinical Laboratory Director under CLIA regulations.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience within pathology, diagnostics, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic, or laboratory environments.
  • Experience with pathology assay development, validation, and laboratory operations.
  • Background supporting translational medicine, companion diagnostics, biomarker development, or clinical research programs.
  • Ability to obtain New Jersey medical licensure.
Preferred Experience
  • Translational oncology and biomarker development.
  • Companion diagnostics (CDx).
  • Immunohistochemistry (IHC) assay development and validation.
  • Digital pathology and image analysis platforms.
  • Computational pathology and AI-enabled diagnostic technologies.
  • Whole-slide imaging, spatial biology, or multiplex tissue analysis.
