The Country Manager, Puerto Rico serves as the most senior Beckman Coulter leader and legal representative in Puerto Rico, with full accountability for enterprise strategy, commercial performance, organizational leadership, and external representation.
This role holds end-to-end accountability for shaping and executing the country's strategic direction, including evolving the go-to-market model and advancing sustainable growth, margin performance, and long-term customer partnerships. The breadth of scope, depth of decision-making authority, and level of internal and external influence required are consistent with an M3 leadership role.
This position reports to the Latin America Vice President and is part of Commercial area located in Puerto Rico and will be an on-site role. This position is part of the Latin America Organization, willing to travel 50 % of the time serving time serving Caribbean countries. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
  • Act as the highest-level authority and legal representative for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics in Puerto Rico, accountable for governance, compliance, and corporate reputation.
  • Own and approve strategic commercial decisions including pricing, quotations, RFPs, and long-term contractual agreements with hospitals, distributors, and reference laboratories.
  • Define and execute the country strategy, including evolving the go-to-market approach and channel model to deliver sustainable growth and value creation.
  • Build and lead a multi-year strategic business plan aligned with Danaher growth priorities and long-term market leadership objectives.
  • Serve as the central leadership axis for Puerto Rico, providing transversal leadership across commercial, service, finance, operations, and support functions within a matrix environment.
  • Represent Beckman Coulter with government agencies, industry associations, health systems, and key opinion leaders, strengthening innovation leadership and market position.
  • Lead, coach, and develop senior leaders, ensuring attraction, retention, and engagement of high-impact leadership talent critical to long-term business success.

The essential requirements of the job include:
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred (Business, Healthcare, or Life Sciences) and 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in medical devices, diagnostics, or healthcare
  • Proven experience leading complex, regulated markets with significant stakeholder influence
  • Demonstrated success in business turnarounds, restructuring go-to-market models, or restoring growth
  • Strong financial, commercial, and contractual acumen (pricing, margin, RFPs, long-term agreements)
  • Executive-level influencing skills within matrix organizations
  • Fluency in Spanish and English
  • Ability to operate credibly at C-suite, government, and institutional levels

Travel, Motor Vehicle Record & Physical/Environment Requirements:
  • Available for travelling >50% of worktime, be on site with customers.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
  • Fluent understanding of hospital and laboratories operating financials and healthcare economics
  • Strong communication and presentation skills; demonstrated ability to clearly, concisely, and accurately conduct executive level presentations
