Product Manager – Commercial Truck & Trailer Products

Location: Irvine, CA

Department: Product Management

Reports To: Executive Vice President (EVP)

About the Role

We're seeking a hands-on Product Manager with direct experience in the heavy-duty truck, trailer, or transportation equipment industry to own and grow key product lines across OEM, OES, and aftermarket channels.

Reporting directly to the Executive Vice President, this role will have significant visibility and ownership in shaping product strategy, identifying market opportunities, driving innovation, and improving product performance across the business.

The ideal candidate understands the commercial vehicle market and has successfully managed engineered products from concept through launch, growth, and lifecycle management. This is an ownership role where you will directly influence product strategy, customer experience, innovation, and business growth.

In This Role, You Will

  • Own product line performance, including revenue, margin, profitability, and lifecycle management
  • Identify opportunities for new products, product extensions, and SKU optimization
  • Develop product strategies based on customer needs, market trends, competitive analysis, and business objectives
  • Lead new product development in partnership with Engineering, Manufacturing, Purchasing, and Operations teams
  • Work with Pricing to optimize margins, competitive positioning, and market strategy
  • Support inventory planning, forecasting, and supply chain coordination
  • Partner with Sales on customer support, training, and technical product expertise
  • Assist with catalogs, packaging, product naming, and marketing materials
  • Monitor heavy-duty trucking industry trends, regulations, and competitive activity
  • Support budgeting, financial planning, and overall product portfolio performance

Product Categories

  • Electrical connectors, plugs, and sockets
  • ABS and power cables
  • Air brake hoses, gladhands, and air system components
  • Trailer electrical systems and harnesses
  • Junction boxes and cable assemblies
  • Charging and power solutions
  • Other commercial truck and trailer components

What We're Looking For

  • 5–10+ years of Product Management experience within the heavy-duty trucking, commercial vehicle, trailer, transportation equipment, or related OEM/OES/aftermarket industry
  • Experience managing engineered products in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of OEM, OES, fleet, distributor, and aftermarket sales channels
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally with Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, Sales, and Marketing
  • Strong financial, analytical, and commercial business acumen
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with commercial vehicle electrical systems, air systems, connectors, harnesses, or trailer components
  • Knowledge of the North American heavy-duty truck and trailer market
  • Familiarity with Class 6–8 commercial vehicles and industry standards
  • Experience working directly with commercial vehicle OEMs, fleets, distributors, or aftermarket customers

Industry Experience Requirement

This position requires prior product management experience within the commercial vehicle, heavy-duty trucking, trailer, transportation equipment, or related industry. Candidates with product management experience exclusively in unrelated industries such as software, consumer products, or non-transportation markets are unlikely to be a fit.

Compensation

Base salary range: $120,000–$140,000 annually.

Final compensation will be determined based on experience, relevant industry expertise, and overall qualifications. Phillips Industries is open to offering compensation above the posted range for exceptional candidates with extensive commercial vehicle, heavy-duty trucking, or transportation equipment product management experience.

Benefits

Phillips Industries offers a comprehensive benefits package including:

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Short-term and long-term disability coverage
  • Life insurance
  • 401(k) plan with a 4% company match that vests immediately
  • Commuter program, including 50% FasTrak toll reimbursement

Join Phillips Industries and become part of a family-owned company with a proud history and a strong future. If you are passionate about building innovative products that improve safety, reliability, and efficiency across the trucking industry, we want to hear from you.
