Job description

In all that we do, we work to improve the quality of life for the cats and dogs in our community. Anicira offers high-quality, affordable services in an effort to improve access to veterinary care for all families. We are looking to have an experienced Veterinary Assistant join our team.

Veterinary Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Assist Veterinarians and Technicians with surgical, medical and dentistry procedures
  • Provide compassionate care
  • Monitor vital signs of sedated and anesthetized patients in all perioperative phases
  • Clean and disinfect kennels, carriers, equipment, and facility
  • Communicate in an effective and professional manner with clients
  • Medical record keeping
  • Fill prescriptions
  • Perform laboratory work and assist with diagnostic imaging
  • Client education
  • Follow written and verbally communicated standard operating procedures
  • General housekeeping
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Veterinary Assistant Qualifications:

  • Ability to work independently, as well as be a team player
  • Flexible work style amidst shifting priorities; calm under pressure
  • Knowledge of basic veterinary medical concepts
  • Maintain an open mind regarding changes, be willing to learn and teach new protocols
  • Excellent client service skills

Veterinary Assistant Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and carry 40 pounds repeatedly throughout the day.
  • Able to work standing for 10 hours.

Work Hours:

  • Four days a week 6:45 am - 5:45 pm, with a 1 hour unpaid lunch break
