Veterinary Assistant, Emergency
Location:
Byron Center, MI
Schedule: Part Time & Full Time Available | FT Hours Are 3 Twelve Hour Shifts Per Week -Overnight Availability Required | Rotating Weekends & Holidays | Shift Bids Every 6 Months
Compensation: $17-25/hr Dependent On Experience | $3/Hour Shift Differential (Hours Between 11pm & 7am)

In Your Day-To-Day, You Will
  • Assist veterinarians during exams, treatments and procedures.
  • Perform technical tasks; IVC placement, medication administration, radiology, anesthesia monitoring, patient monitoring, etc.
  • Monitor anesthesia using ECG, SpO2, EtCO2, and NIBP.
  • Provide pre- and post-surgical care and assist with surgical prep and recovery for patients.
  • Handle and process laboratory samples for submission to local and offsite labs.
  • Accurately obtain and relay detailed patient histories.
  • Document records, treatment and diagnostics into systems (EzyVet and SmartFlow).
  • Communicate effectively with clients on treatment plans, estimates, and discharge instructions including callbacks and updates.
  • Educate and communicate with clients regarding their pet's condition, treatment plans, review of estimates, and follow-up care.
  • Support hospital cleanliness, safety protocols and inventory management.
  • Additional duties as requested by hospital leadership.
