Job description

Veternary Assistant main requirements are knowing the routine tasks such as kennel work, holding while our veterinarians perfoms a head to paw exam, and caring for scared/injured companion animals. It is a great environment to learn and grow within the field as you continue to pursuing your passion.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Kennel work
  • Disinfect cages and treatment areas
  • Sterilize surgical equipment 
  • Restrain animals during examinations or vaccinations
  • Administer medication prescribed by Veterinarians 
  • Observe boarding pets behavior or health condition to report to the vet
  • Help in cases of emergencies
  • Keep accurate records and logs
  • Reassure clients that their pets are being cared for and explain issues (e.g. lack of appointments, insurance matters)
  • Advise pet owners on nutrition and healthcare
  • Client education
  • Answering multiple phone lines
  • Greeting clients and their pets
  • Conducting cash and credit card transactions
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Acquiring a knowledge of basic veterinary products and protocols
Requirements and skills
  • Proven experience (1yr Preferred) as a Veterinary Assistant or similar position working with animals
  • Experience in an administrative role is a plus
  • Building rapport with clients/patients
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Patient and caring personality
  • Ability to follow instructions properly
  • Comfortable being around small animals 
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the job (e.g. lift up to 40 lbs)
  • Availability to occasionally work in emergencies
  • High school diploma; a certificate from a Veterinary Assistant program is a plus

  • 8 hour shift
