Job Summary 

We are a private practice located in the beautiful Foster city with a wonderful clients base, come join our veterinary team as a Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT), or experienced veterinary assistance where your expertise will directly enhance the health and well-being of our canine and feline patients. In this vital role, you will provide compassionate animal care, assist with veterinary procedures, and support the medical team in delivering veterinary services. Your skills in animal handling, laboratory work, anesthesia will be instrumental in ensuring our patients receive top-tier treatment in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. This position offers an exciting opportunity to grow your veterinary career while making a meaningful difference in the lives of pets and their owners.

Duties

  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing equipment and ensuring proper animal restraint.
  • Perform laboratory tests including blood draws, urinalysis, and other diagnostic work to support accurate diagnoses.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments following veterinary protocols with precision and care.
  • Monitor anesthesia during surgical procedures, including IV insertion, vascular access, and anesthesia monitoring to ensure patient safety.
  • Conduct radiology diagnostics such as X-ray imaging and interpret results to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Handle animal husbandry tasks including feeding, cleaning enclosures, grooming, and maintaining a clean and safe environment for animals.
  • Support emergency medicine cases by providing critical care, assisting with resuscitation efforts, and maintaining aseptic techniques during procedures.
  • Operate medical equipment such as dental units, laboratory analyzers, and radiology machines with confidence and accuracy.
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding pet care instructions, medication administration, and treatment plans to foster trust and understanding.
  • Maintain detailed medical records using veterinary software systems to ensure accurate documentation of all patient interactions.

Experience

  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician or in a similar veterinary support role with hands-on animal handling skills.
  • Knowledge of common medical procedures.
  • Experience working with dogs, cats.
  • Familiarity with laboratory work including phlebotomy (blood draws), diagnostic radiology (X-ray), and laboratory diagnostics.
  • Prior exposure to critical & intensive care environments or emergency medicine is advantageous.
  • Ability to perform IV insertion, animal catheterization, anesthesia monitoring, and other technical procedures confidently.
  • Strong understanding of aseptic techniques to prevent infection during surgical or invasive procedures.
  • Competence operating veterinary medical equipment and software systems for record keeping and diagnostics.
  • Excellent animal restraint skills combined with compassionate client communication to ensure positive experiences for pets and their owners.
