Delta Dental of Wisconsin is seeking a Business Applications Manager to oversee and facilitate the administration, delivery, and operational reliability of Delta Dental of Wisconsin's (DDWI) business application portfolio, including internally managed applications. The Business Applications Manager ensures applications operate securely, align with business processes, and meet compliance requirements in a highly regulated environment. The Business Applications Manager maintains the DDWI software inventory and manages the lifecycle of enterprise systems, coordinating upgrades, enhancements, and security reviews with vendors and NorthWinds Technology Solutions. 

This is a full-time hybrid position, with three days in the office and two days working from home, based at our headquarters in Stevens Point, WI.

What you'll do:

Business Partnership & Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Build trusted relationships with business leaders, serving as the bridge between business and technology and a trusted advisor on solution fit.
    • Translate business needs into practical, scalable solutions, gathering requirements and prioritizing the backlog by business value.
    • Align application capabilities with business objectives, partnering with Business Units, Finance, Compliance, Operations, and NorthWinds Technology Solutions.

Application Portfolio & Strategy

    • Lead the enterprise application strategy, roadmap, and lifecycle to align technology investments with business priorities and architecture standards.
    • Manage and optimize the application portfolio by maintaining the software inventory, improving application health, reducing technical debt, and retiring obsolete solutions.
    • Deliver secure, reliable, and scalable enterprise applications through end-to-end delivery, operational support, and lifecycle management aligned with business needs and SLAs.
    • Foster collaboration and continuous improvement by partnering across the organization to enable integrated solutions, trusted data, and a high-performing, agile culture.

Governance, Risk & Compliance

    • Establish and enforce application standards, governance, documentation, and change management practices aligned with enterprise frameworks and security requirements.
    • Ensure compliance with policies, regulatory, and security requirements, partnering with security and compliance teams to control sensitive and regulated data.
    • Manage application lifecycle and technology risk, including incident, problem, and change management.
    • Support audit readiness and compliance reviews, assisting with vendor risk identification, escalations, and resolution.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

    • Stay current on emerging technologies in applications, cloud, and automation, adopting solutions that deliver measurable business benefit.
    • Simplify and automate processes and workflows using AI, analytics, and low-code/no-code tools, promoting standardization and reuse.
    • Develop, track, and report on meaningful KPIs while managing budgets, optimizing licensing and operational costs, and demonstrating ROI.
