What You'll Do

As a Rail Yard Safety Technician, you'll help maintain a safe working environment within an active railroad yard. This is a hands-on role supporting railroad crews and equipment movement.

Responsibilities

include:

  • Perform safety observations throughout the rail yard
  • Assist with maintaining safe work areas around railroad operations
  • Provide vehicle and equipment spotting support
  • Hang and maintain track protection as required
  • Monitor work activities and communicate safety concerns
  • Follow all railroad, customer, and company safety procedures
  • Work independently while supporting daily rail operations Requirements
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license required
  • Class B CDL is a plus and may increase earning potential
  • Ability to pass company, customer, railroad, and government background checks
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English
  • Reliable, dependable, and safety-focused
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
  • Moderate computer skills required
  • Willingness to work weekends, holidays, and varying schedules as needed Work Environment &

Physical Requirements

This position takes place in an active rail yard and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. You should be comfortable with:

  • Walking throughout the rail yard on paved, uneven, or unmaintained surfaces
  • Bending, stooping, kneeling, and climbing as needed
  • Climbing steps, ladders, and elevated surfaces
  • Frequently entering and exiting vehicles
  • Working around railroad equipment and materials
  • Lifting and carrying items up to 50 pounds
