Job description

Responsibilities
We are seeking an expert Senior Model-Based Systems Engineer (MBSE) to lead the modeling and digital transformation of a critical Navy undersea platform in early-stage acquisition. As a pivotal member of our team, you will spearhead the adoption and implementation of platform and mission models, ensure robust configuration management, and drive the development of validated architectures for the Navy's pathfinder digital engineering program.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead development of platform architecture models using the Unified Architecture Framework (UAF), leveraging advanced modeling and visualization tools.
  • Develop and integrate mission and mission engineering threads to support end-to-end system capability analysis.
  • Champion configuration management, version control, and rigorous baselining for multiple models operating in air-gapped environments.
  • Design, implement, and enforce model styling rules and automated validation suites to ensure consistency and quality in all deliverables.
  • Develop custom report generation templates using Velocity Template Language (VTL) to produce documents and presentations in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Drive collaborative and agile systems engineering processes across multiple organizations, resulting in mature, validated platform architectures and comprehensive requirements baselines.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in MBSE methodologies, including modeling languages (UAF, SysML) and tools such as Cameo Systems Modeler, Teamwork Cloud, and Cameo Collaborator.
  • Utilize the Atlassian toolset (Confluence, Jira) to facilitate Agile project management and model development.
  • Lead the program-wide adoption of model-based practices, ensuring alignment with Navy digital engineering standards and best practices.
  • Co-lead a cross-organization MBSE community of practice, providing thought leadership and mentoring to elevate modeling quality and accelerate development velocity.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field. (Master's or PhD preferred.)
  • 10-12 years (BS), 8-10 years (MS), 5-7 years (Phd) of experience implementing MBSE on large DoD acquisition programs.
  • Expert-level proficiency in SysML and UAFML.
  • Advanced experience with Cameo Systems Modeler, Teamwork Cloud, Cameo Collaborator.
  • Demonstrated expertise creating custom report generation templates using Velocity Template Language (VTL) for MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience developing and enforcing modeling standards, version control, and change management for complex, multi-organization environments.
  • Active Secret clearance.

Preferred Qualifications
  • INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP).
  • OMG Certified Systems Modeling Professional (OCSMP) certifications.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence).
  • Experience supporting US Navy undersea acquisition programs.

This is the projected compensation range for this position. There are differentiating factors that can impact a final salary/hourly rate, including, but not limited to, Contract Wage Determination, relevant work experience, skills and competencies that align to the specified role, geographic location (For Remote Opportunities), education and certifications as well as Federal Government Contract Labor categories. Min: $145,200.96 Max: $252,476.30
