What is the difference between Vehicle Wraps vs Vehicle Graphics?

AspectVehicle WrapsVehicle Graphics
Design ComplexityFull or partial coverage with custom designsSimple decals or logos applied to specific areas
InstallationRequires wrapping entire vehicle surfacesApplying decals or stickers to parts of the vehicle
DurabilityLong-lasting, often 3-5 years with proper careShorter lifespan, typically 1-3 years
CostHigher due to extensive materials and laborLower, as it involves fewer materials and less time

Vehicle wraps provide comprehensive coverage and a bold visual impact, ideal for branding campaigns. Vehicle graphics are more cost-effective and suitable for highlighting logos or contact info without covering the entire vehicle. Both options are popular in the vehicle advertising industry, but they differ significantly in design scope, installation, and longevity.

What are vehicle wraps?

Vehicle wraps are large vinyl graphics or decals that are applied directly over the original paint of a vehicle. They can be used for advertising, branding, or simply changing the appearance of the car without the permanence of paint. Wraps can cover the entire vehicle or just a portion, like the hood or doors. They are durable, customizable, and can be removed without damaging the underlying paint. Businesses often use vehicle wraps as a cost-effective way to promote their brand on the go.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals in the vehicle wraps industry, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in the vehicle wraps industry often face challenges such as ensuring precise installation on complex vehicle surfaces, managing tight project deadlines, and maintaining high-quality finishes under varying environmental conditions. To address these, it's important to have strong attention to detail, invest in ongoing training for new materials and techniques, and develop effective communication with clients to set realistic expectations. Collaborating closely with designers and installers also helps streamline workflows and minimize errors, leading to better outcomes and customer satisfaction.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Vehicle Wrap Installer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Vehicle Wrap Installer, you need hands-on experience with vinyl application, a strong attention to detail, and knowledge of surface preparation, often supported by a high school diploma or vocational training. Familiarity with tools like squeegees, heat guns, cutting knives, and sometimes digital design software (such as Adobe Illustrator or FlexiSIGN) is typically required. Strong problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills help installers exceed client expectations and work efficiently in teams. These skills ensure high-quality, durable wraps and satisfied customers, which are essential for business reputation and repeat work.

Graphics & Production Specialist

FASTSIGNS of Bend | Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm | $22–$26/hour to start

About the Role

FASTSIGNS of Bend is a small, skilled team of three people who make signs, graphics, displays, vehicle wraps, and visual products for businesses throughout Central Oregon. We're looking for a fourth person — someone hands-on, tech-comfortable, and detail-oriented who wants to learn a real trade and grow with us.

No sign industry experience required. We will train you. What we can't teach is work ethic, attention to detail, and the kind of brain that likes figuring things out.

What You'll Do

This role is primarily shop production (~70%) with some field installation mixed in (~30%).

In the shop, you'll help with:

Running large-format printers, cutters, and laminators

Cutting, trimming, mounting, weeding, and finishing vinyl graphics

Making and manipulating computer graphics for customers — resizing, tweaking text, or cleaning up a file before it goes to print

Preparing files and work orders for production runs

Labeling, packaging, and shipping orders

Keeping the production area organized and efficient

In the field, you'll help with:

Installing signs, graphics, and displays at customer locations

Making deliveries around Bend

Using basic tools, step ladders, and occasionally digging post holes

Working professionally and safely at customer locations

You'll work alongside an experienced team member and have the support of our Eugene design and production team — specialists two hours away.

Who We're Looking For:

You don't need sign experience. But you should be someone who:

Is reliable and shows up on time, every time

Has strong computer skills — you'll use production software daily

Pays close attention to detail and catches mistakes early

Likes making things and working with their hands

Has done something — a job, a hobby, coursework — that involved putting things together or following a precise process

Has a natural eye for layout — if you've ever adjusted a flyer, tinkered with a graphic, or made something look right on a screen, that instinct matters here

Wants variety and doesn't want to sit still all day

This is a good fit for someone a few years into their working life who is creative and hands-on — and wants to build things, not sit behind a design desk.

Requirements:

Valid driver's license and good driving record

Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb a step ladder, and work on your feet

Full-time availability, Monday–Friday

Comfortable with computers and willing to learn new software

Pay & Benefits

$22–$26/hour to start, depending on experience

Health & dental insurance (50% employer-paid)

401(k) with up to 3.5% employer match

~3 weeks PTO plus 6 paid holidays

Branded apparel provided and hands-on training

Why FASTSIGNS of Bend?

We opened in the summer of 2024 and we're growing fast. Our branch manager, Ray Wicks, brings six years of sign and graphics experience and is already among the top performers in the FASTSIGNS network nationwide. This is a team worth joining early.

We're a tight team of three, backed by a 20-person operation in Eugene — designers and equipment specialists two hours away.

You'll learn to operate state-of-the-art wide-format printers, RIP software, vinyl cutters, and laminators — real production skills that transfer anywhere in the graphics and print industry.

From wrapping a vehicle to installing a wall mural to putting graphics on a storefront window — you'll drive around Bend and point to things you made and put up with your own hands.

Almost everything we make goes to local and regional businesses. You're not making disposable print — you're helping real companies show up professionally in their community, and that work is visible for years.

The person we add to this team will share in what we're building. If you're dependable, curious, and ready to learn — we want to hear from you.

This franchise is independently owned and operated by a franchisee. Your application will go directly to the franchisee, and all hiring decisions will be made by the management of this franchisee. All inquiries about employment at this franchisee should be made directly to the franchise location, and not to FASTSIGNS Corporate.
