Job description

TPG is seeking a motivated, dependable and safe Transportation Support Specialist to join our team in Las Vegas, NV. This unique hybrid position combines administrative operations support with CDL test driving responsibilities in support of a leading manufacturer of medium- and heavy-duty trucks.
In this role, you will spend approximately 60% of your time providing administrative and operational support to the site leadership team and 40% performing CDL vehicle testing. The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, customer-focused, and comfortable transitioning between office responsibilities and hands-on vehicle testing. Schedule flexibility is essential, as driving assignments are based on testing needs and may vary throughout the week.
Typical Schedule
  • Administrative: Monday-Friday | 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM (approximately 24 hours/week)
  • CDL Test Driving: Approximately 16 hours/week | Schedule varies based on testing needs and may include Monday-Sunday.

ADMINISTRATIVE PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide administrative support to the R&D Manager, Senior Account Specialist, and Operations Supervisor.
  • Process and file invoices, maintain vendor records, and assist with invoice submissions.
  • Order, track, and maintain office, breakroom, and operational supplies while monitoring inventory levels.
  • Maintain accurate spreadsheets and records using Microsoft Excel, including data entry, filtering, tracking, and reporting.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with TPG employees, customers, vendors, test sites, and other stakeholders.
  • Assist with planning, organizing, and setting up meetings, customer visits, and site events, including room setup, refreshments, gifts, and materials.
  • Help create a welcoming and professional experience for customers and visitors attending testing activities.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying opportunities for improvement and completing tasks proactively with minimal supervision.
  • Follow established procedures while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Support special projects and perform additional duties as assigned.

DRIVER PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Safely operate and evaluate medium and heavy vehicles-including manual transmission Class 6 and Class 8 tractor-trailers and other commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) - in wide range of testing conditions to collect data and provide detailed performance feedback.
  • Execute approved durability test schedules in accordance with established procedures.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, and accurate Driver Test Reports, documenting the test results, feedback and performance of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) with precision and attention to detail.
  • Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip safety inspections as required.
  • Perform other related driving/vehicle preparation work as required (such as vehicle shuttling, detailing, light maintenance, washing, etc.).
  • Operate vehicles safely in adverse and extreme conditions, including severe winter weather, extreme heat, mountainous terrain, and icy roadways.
  • Follow all company and customer policies and procedures.
  • Travel periodically to perform over-the-road testing and vehicle transfers as required.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Skills/Experience:
  • Must have and active Class A CDL with a current DOT Medical Examiner's Card
  • Minimum of 5 years of tractor-trailer driving experience and minimum of 3 years of administrative or office support experience.
  • Experience loading, securing, and operating a lowboy trailer
  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, including professional conduct and emotional intelligence
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Intermediate to advanced computer skills, including basic reporting and system navigation
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
  • Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently while supporting multiple departments.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft, SAP, or NorthStar (plus).
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and operational needs.

Driving Record Specifications:
  • No at-fault accidents within the past 3 years.
  • No DUIs/DWIs within the past 5 years.
  • No major violations in the past 3 years (e.g., 20+ mph over speed limit, reckless driving, license suspension).
  • No more than 2 miscellaneous tickets, citations, or violations within the past 3 years.
  • Candidates may also be disqualified for other serious or safety-related events not specifically listed above.
