Job Summary for Vehicle Inspector/Condition Report Writer

The Vehicle Inspector/Condition Report Writer reviews vehicle inspection data and photos to create accurate condition reports that support vehicle sales, leasing, arbitration, and valuation activities. This role requires strong attention to detail, efficiency, and the ability to work in a fast-paced automotive environment.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, customer-focused, and comfortable working independently and as part of a team. Prior experience as a rental car damage inspector, insurance appraiser/adjuster, collision/body shop estimator, auction vehicle inspector, dealership vehicle appraiser, or related inspection/appraiser experience is preferred.

Work Hours for Vehicle Inspector/Condition Report Writer

  • Full-time (35-40 hours a week)
  • Monday - Friday
  • Occasional Saturday

Key Responsibilities of Vehicle Inspector/Condition Report Writer

  • Review inspection data, checklists, and vehicle photos to prepare condition reports.
  • Document vehicle damage, wear, repairs, and discrepancies according to company standards.
  • Ensure reports meet quality and client requirements.
  • Communicate with inspectors and team members to resolve discrepancies.
  • Complete 20–30 reports daily while maintaining accuracy.
  • Assist with Post-Sale Inspections (PSI) and arbitration duties on sale days as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Requirements:

Qualifications of Vehicle Inspector/Condition Report Writer

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Some vehicle inspection experience is a plus.
  • Strong written communication, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Ability to interpret inspection data and vehicle condition information.
  • Proficient with reporting software and digital platforms.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Work may involve indoor/outdoor auction environments and varying weather conditions.
