Company Description Figment Cottage Gardens is a boutique cottage garden design studio focused on creating romantic, cottage-style outdoor spaces for residential clients. The studio emphasizes sustainable, site-responsive designs that highlight seasonal interest, biodiversity, and functional outdoor living areas. Projects range from intimate garden rooms to comprehensive property master plans, often integrating native plant palettes and low-maintenance solutions. Team members collaborate closely with clients, craftspeople, and consultants to deliver thoughtful, detailed designs that reflect each site’s character and the client’s vision.


Role Description The Landscape Architect will work in a part-time, remote capacity, collaborating with the principal designer to develop concept plans, detailed planting plans, and illustrative drawings for cottage-style gardens and small landscapes. Day-to-day responsibilities include reviewing site information, preparing layout and grading concepts, refining designs based on client feedback, and producing clear digital drawings or hand-rendered plans. The role involves selecting appropriate plant species, organizing planting schemes for seasonal impact, and coordinating hardscape and softscape elements into cohesive designs. The Landscape Architect will also prepare basic documentation and design notes for installers, maintain organized project files, and participate in virtual meetings with clients and project partners. Work in morpholio and Vectorworks is a must.


Qualifications


License in Landscape Architecture is a must


  • Must be based in UK or USA
  • Competence with design and drafting tools including Morpholio, Moasure, and Vectorworks and basic digital communication platforms.
  • Works in the cottage garden aesthetic
  • Demonstrated skills and license in Landscape Architecture and Landscape Design, with the ability to translate concepts into clear, buildable plans.
  • Experience in Landscape Planning, including site analysis, spatial organization, and integration of circulation, views, and functional outdoor areas.
  • Hands-on understanding of Landscaping practices and coordination with contractors or installers for practical implementation.
  • Proficiency in developing detailed Planting Plans, including species selection, layering, and seasonal interest tailored to regional climates.
  • Relevant degree or formal training in landscape architecture, landscape design, or a closely related field.
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting, manage part-time hours effectively, and handle multiple small projects concurrently.
  • Strong visual communication skills, including clear plan graphics, perspective sketches, or mood boards.
  • Knowledge of sustainable and ecological landscape practices, including use of native plants and water-wise design, is highly beneficial.
